2004 Presidential Election - The Mess

It's already started. Heard on the news this morning that 58,000 absentee ballots in Florida are missing. Broward county. Still looking for a web-based news site that has the story. All I've got so far is a vague link.

  2. It doesn't matter what side you're on. The end result of this is that a considerable percentage of the public has lost confidence in the election process -- deservedly so. That's not good.

There are three counties in Ohio with more registered voters than living adults. BTW, this isn't anything new. With any luck, the election won't be close enough for it to matter. The most recent polls in Florida show that Kerry is finished there. If Ohio votes for Bush, he has the 270 electoral votes.

I disagree. The intelligent people will vote. The uneducated shouldn't be allowed to vote anyway, so if this turns them away, it's a positive.

  4. That is not what he is saying Yoshi. Just because you do not have faith in the election process does not mean that you are not voting. But you are so god damn enlightened that you can turn any issue into partisian bickering. Way to go asshole. These are real problems that need to be addressed, but instead we have people like you that think "eh, who gives a shit as long as my man is elected".

The fact that shit like this has happened for years does not justify it happening now, or four years ago, or any year.

You are correct. Yoshi (whom I actually agree with politically in many ways) is not.

(a site both you and diffx pointed out btw. Also should be noted this site predicts Kerry will win)

You know I heard an interesting thought on the radio a few days ago...pollers are missing a large amount of young voters, because they only have cell phones and can't be polled. So your vote probably makes more of a difference than you think.

  9. Since there's probably no correlation between cell phones owners and political affiliation, I doubt it.

What I am curious about through is the breakdown of the survey numbers. Granted, I live in a state where Kerry's going to win, but if I was going by the people I'm exposed to, it would be 75/25 or so. Lots of closet Republicans ;p

The younger voting public tend towards the democrats, I've heard. So I'm absolutely positive it matters.
