Thread: Biohazard 4 coming to PS2 and XB

  1. I only played 5 minute sof the original RE and the series never really intrigued me enough for me to check them out but now that I've seen some lenghty movies of RE4 at gamespot I'm actually anticipating this game with enthusiasm.

The ambient of the game is right up my alley and is significantly different from the ones seen in the prequels...

I agree. Those two and SotN were the major games that interested me. At least two of the three warranted that anticipation.

The difference between stuff like MGS Twin Snakes vs. MGS2 is that MGS2 was the hyped reason to own a PS2 and an exclusive (at the time) game. MGS is a remake of a 5 year old game that most people already own that would want it in the first place. Same with REmake. RE4 was GameCube's third party "reason to buy the system" game, which is why it's frustrating.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was a game made by Square and commissioned by Nintendo. Nintendo wanted a Squaresoft game to hopefully attract the RPG community and maybe turn some heads as well. It sounds like a good concept, but that's not what Nintendo did in execution. Instead, since they were funding the game, they pressured (and what does Square care when it's on Nintendo's dime) the dev to release a game that utilized connectivity. Connectivity is a bad idea. It always was and it always will be. The GBA as a controller was a novelty designed to suck mass amounts of money out of their userbase. Not a lot of people know 4 or 5 other people with GBA's to play Crystal Chronicles like it was designed to do.

The game, had it not had connectivity shoved upon it, probably could have appealed to a greater audience. With the Nintendo's user base shrinking they should be trying to spread appeal, not make it 10x more niche.

Some of you people are really stupid with the whole console war thing, for all your talk and bullshit all you ever do is rail on GameCube. I don't like PS2 but at least I can admit it has games I want, which is more than can be said for most of you Cube haters. Of course I want exclusives for Cube, it's the only current gen system I own right now so the more successful it is the more games and attention it gets. I'd get an Xbox at this point if I could fit it into my entertainment center and had the cash I wanted to spend on it, most people don't own all 3 systems. If I had my way there wouldn't be ANY third party exclusives for any system, the frustration comes in that the system I own is the only one that gets all it's real third party exclusives taken away.
Nintendo was always harsh on 3rd party developers. And now they're eating it. There's still no valid reason you want an exclusive RE4. If you only have a Gamecube and feel robbed that other people with PS2's are going to play it then all I can say is that you've got an immature mentallity. And Nintendo losing exclusive third party games should make you want to purchase an Xbox or PS2 further. Gamecube on its own isn't the strongest of systems.

You take it so personally and say that people are coming down hard on the Gamecube. It's not true. The PS2 had one of the worst launches in console history and people ripped into it for that. The Xbox controller was a joke, and people complained about it so much that Microsoft drafted up a complete redesign. Nintendo's controller is often criticized as being uncomfortable and unintuitive, yet they did nothing about it. What does that tell fans? It tells fans that Microsoft is willing to go the extra mile to make consumers happy with their product and Nintendo doesn't care what we think, they're going to make consoles that only utilize their development style.

    Again, third parties suffer.

What I find silly Andrew is when you accuse me of making excuses for the system. What game that I named should have sold a lot more than it did? Eternal Darkness is a game that undersold, it was original and great and nobody bought it.
Wow you took it really personal.

The fact is that Nintendo makes a lot of bone headed business decisions when it comes to games.

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes? People have played it, beat it and put a fork in it. So why would they think it would sell or move systems? While it may have been a nice hope that an older game could move systems or capture the mature audience the only thing it did was further corrode and identify the Gamecube as a dinosaur system. Nintendo should have taken the partnership and had Kojima make a wholly unique game. A new game like Boktai for the Gamecube. But that didn't happen.

Not to mention, these games are PSX exclusives, so them porting to the Gamecube is a bit hypocritical, considering you're yelling about losing exclusive games.

I'm not being hard on the Gamecube, I'm just pointing out a few mistakes Nintendo has made in regards to development. Microsoft is releasing XBN software that makes it a breeze to develop for the Xbox, and is almost just a matter of changing the controls of a game from the PC to the Xbox. Gamecube is a lot easier to develop for than the PS2, but at this point people aren't willing to risk low sales on the Gamecube when they can easily boost them on the Playstation 2. As the cost of development rises the margin for risk shrinks.

Again, i'm going to bold it this time: Don't take this as a personal attack, like you just did to my previous post. But realize that people aren't hard on Nintendo for no reason. Aside from the 3 trolls who say everything they do sucks there are people here who want them to do well and bring back the innovation they used to be noted for.

I bought the system because it had WWE Wrestlemania the Arcade game. And when I read up on what was to come I realized that it would be a system worth owning. I personally thought Nintendo would win (like everybody did) but Sony proved skeptics wrong. They knew that they couldn't compete with Nintendo head on, and found a few friends tired of being dicked around to help them. Now Nintendo's running a large boat almost all by themselves.

  4. so what's this fuss about?

Will the PS2 version come out the same time as the GC?

And hell, I'd much rather play it for the system it was built on than a busted port.

Unless it's multiplatform from the get-go. Or unless the port is actually better.

I still don't see what the damn fuss is all about - GC owners will get it if they want it, PS2 owners will, and people with more than one system will get a choice. And internet nerds like us will continue to use instances like this of why its obvious that our skills of reasoning are vastly superior to the heads of any game company.

    Damn.

  5. GC in Jan.

XB/PS2 in late 2005, so, no, not the same time.

  6. *shrug*

So unless they do anything big with other two, I know which one I'll get.

Exactly. It's not a big deal that it's on other consoles.

Its a BIIIIIG deal to SpoDaddy

  9. Just becuase you guys bought RE doesn't mean everyone else did.The RE series has gone down the past few years. How much did the latest RE games sell. Outbreak,Survivor, Zero. You guys are bringing up the past games that sold crazy. Capcom changed everything becuase their games were not selling as good as they used to do. If they were they wouldn't have changed a thing. tHEY WOULD HAVE KEPT IT THE SAME.

How can you say Nintendo doesn't listen to Fans when they changed the direction of an entire franchise on the word of their fans.( Zelda) The Xbox controller was changed becuase it got good reveiws form Japan. Not becuase American Gamers wanted the change.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles sold well period and you can't argue that. Also the GBAs and Link cabl;es sold alsop gave Nintendo profit.( OH i FORGOT THE GBA DOESN'T MAKE MONEY AND SHOULD NOT BE COUNTED WHEN TALKING ABOUT nINTENDOS BUDGET BECUASE IT NOT A "CONSOLE")

remnant, whenever you are sort of on my side in a thread, I can't post, because you have already made it a lost cause. Next time, STFU and call for backup.
