Kerry was pretty much the stereotypical Massachusetts high-life stuffed shirt. To most Americans, he shouldve been partying with Vanity Fair editors or something. His dopey photo ops with him in full hunting gear, his comments about Lambert Field and Manny Ortez, those didnt help either. Americans dont want someone like that as President, they want something that seems like their guy. Look at Clinton. He was incredibly smart, but seemed down to earth. He would talk on MTV and shit and seemed totally comfortable doing it (kinda like Bush). Kerry on the other hand looked stiff, awkward, like he wanted to be somewhere else. Clinton played the sax and all of that. They also want someone who they think will step up to the plate when someone needs to step up to the plate. Kerry, with his waffling and inconsistent message on Iraq and talks of global tests and shit... he couldnt deliver that message. His attempts to seemed force and were out of step with his other messages.Originally Posted by MarsKitten
This is just how Americans pick their president... since, well, Andrew Jackson at least.
I also want to say that I think Kerry has some class for conceding now. I didnt expect it to happen but Im glad he did. The last thing we need is a repeat of 200. As long as Kerry doesnt turn into a stark raving lunatic like Gore we will all benefit.
Oh, and Almaci can start packing his bags right now. Hit the road jack and all of that.

Really how? What's to stop us from just passing our debts around for the next 100 years. Gods know we've have the talent to do it (enron) ect. And an economy the size of ours is pretty easy to lose numbers in.Originally Posted by haohmaru

Very true. In 200, Septimius Severus-Septimius Severus came to power at the point of a sword. Severus first challenged Didius Julianus who was the highest bidder to become emperor at a auction held by the Praetorian Guard. Severus went on to defeat Septimius Albinus and Pescennius Niger, each head of his own legion and each claiming the right to be Emperor.Originally Posted by diffusionx

This election has convinced me that Americans dont give a shit about anyone but Americans.
Unlike the rest of the world, poplulated by all of those lovely, selfless people. Ridiculous. Take a look at per capita charitable contributions the world over. You are, at the moment, not ok.Originally Posted by dave is ok

Really, whats wrong with self interest? Or do you not enjoy your nigh impossibly high standard of living.
Sorry for all america's concern over morality, its all about the hedonism.
