A bunch of us played a game of team slayer on Coagulation tonight. The game was set so that it ended at 250 kills and the starting weapon was the Battle Rifle with a Shotgun as secondary weapon. Here are the match results, and if you are lazy you can chech out hte results below.

Headshots. Period. And also shoot guys who are getting shot at.
Also also learn the right distance. Too far and you won't do damage, too close and you leave yourself open to attack.
Opaque seemed to put his back against a wall and shoot guys who'd come at him straight on since he's so accurate. Do that and practice your accuracy. If a gametype like that happens again on that map, your only real choice is to do it that way, or else you'll get double/triple teamed by snipers on the edges.
Vehicles are overrated. Very easy to dodge just about everything and in a large game with multiple teams it's difficult to get into a winning straight-up 1v1 fight.
The other option is to hunt the bases and caves/rocks with the shotty, but without using the BR to some extent you won't get up there in kills because the action is so spread out. In that particular gametype anyway.
Oh and as to the Dreadnaught match - my whole trick was to stay away from places where I could get super-teamed up on, and to keep moving. You have to watch the radar pretty carefully. If one or two guys are chasing you you can easily get them both. If you've got 4 or 5 you run away fast and let your overshield recharge. Have to pick off the stragglers, predator style.

Accuracy, I guess. I felt the exact same way, to the point where I was openly avoiding the battle rifle because I couldn't kill anyone with it, but tonight I killed a couple people using it and they were dead before I knew it. I shot them with a few bursts and waited to get my ass reamed as per usual but they just slumped over dead. All I can guess is that it does great damage if you manage to hit with every shot, something its very precise aim works against.
These last two days of not touching the controller put me even more out of practice than I thought it would, I was terrible earlier on before slipping back into my usual decent space. Bleh, I just need to get better.

Heh, I jumped into that 250-kill Slayer match, went WTF and went back to playing Rumble Pit matches.
