There are no bicycle tire factories in the US, so once the shit hits the fan, they'll be very hard to come by. Its this sort of obscure shit that makes his arguement all that more believable.

So what? Do all the countries that export bicycle tires refuse to sell to us in the future during our civil war? Shit, that's the best time to be exporting stuff. And if it was that big a deal I don't think it would be that hard for some of our automible tire factories to convert if needed. Industry didn't stop during our last civil war.

Edit: A quick Google search turned up some custom tire factories in the US. I'm sure they could whip up bicycle tires if the demand was there.
