  2. EQ2 is great, and I'm sure WoW is great, and hell maybe SWG is great.. maybe...

Something I find to be spectacular is how perfect windowed mode is. I can switch to aim, type in aim, while EQII runs perfectly on my desktop. I love it Hell I can do things in EQII with an aim window up.

yoshi, the lack of pvp was a big postive as to why i got eq2. I have yet to find an online game that had a pvp community that did not push me away from the game. Its not so much the mechanics as the mindset of pvpers, its not one i enjoy playing with, so i generally only play mmo's with either no pvp, or very limited pvp, as city of heroes is supposedly going to have.
EDIT: yoshi, is anything, you, as a swg player, know well how pvp can go poorly, swg still has significant balance issues, the combat rebalance will seemingly not be out during this presidential administration, and the exploitation of buffs and armor made swg's pvp so bad i didnt even want to consider it, if you are happy with it, more power to ya, but the truth is, it dosent really work out well for the majority of players.

EDIT FOR THIEFSILVER: sorry i didnt talk when you messaged me, im still getting a hand on the chatting, it wouldnt let me answer. im going for paladin

Oh, I mentioned that to him, and apparently I "just didn't play the game long enough", even though I sunk 6 months into building an awesome character for nothing.

And please Yoshi, tell me how SWG's PvP is in anyway fun? Hardly anyone does it anymore, the bounty hunter system is a big fucking joke, the Galactic Civil War is an even bigger joke, and Frostwolf nailed the other points. The bounty hunter system and the GCW could have been extremely awesome PvP elements, except that they are failed to utilize them properly. Not to mention they really need to tone down the number of credits you can get in those missions, the game's not so hard when I can just buy my way through everything.

Though, as I usually mention, if SOE actually gets off it's ass for once and delivers at least the combat rebalance, i'll resubscribe and give it another shot. They've said they are planning for it in janurary, so I'll just have to wait and see.

EQ 1 had a couple of PvP servers on it, and I'm fairly confident that EQ 2 will get some in time as well.

Plus, hurray for EQ 2 having real quests, and hundreds of them at that. If there's one thing I hate in MMORPG's is the "terminal quests", which are the same 5 variations, with a few enemies, at a spawning point. Anarchy Online and SWG had them, but I'm glad they went with the more FFXI way of giving quests.

I'll make a character on Guk soon, after I get through the rest of these noob quests on Mistmoore and get to level 10.

  5. Why go through the effort on Mistmore if I may ask? Sooner you switch over the sooner you get to level 10 here. And yeah, the quests are actually fun.. and short! I mean I completed 3 within 20 minutes, that's awesome.

    Some are pretty long.

And because I've met a few people already, and I'm already on level 9, and I really don't want to give up the stuff I have.

It would help if they didn't pick a TNL server and then change it, I don't care enough to switch it immediately, and I'll do it at my leisure. And once you know where to go for all the quests and such, you can probably hit level 10 in a few hours.

  7. One of the best things is the large amount of experiance you get for exploring (At least at low levels) You could probably hit level 8 from 7 by merely exploring all of Qeynos.

I guess that Makes sense Roufuss, Look forward to having you join us eventually.

  8. WoW had quests but they were all stupid fetch quests. At level 2 I was doing, "kill 10 boars". At level 10, I was doing "kill 15 dire boars". It was awful. Does EQ at least try to mix it up or is it the same bullshit that WOW does?

    .
When I finished my citizenship quest I went from Level 6 to almost 9, since it caps the experience at level 6, and you can accumlate it until you finish the quest.

  10. Yeah I just found out about the whole cap thing, I think it's halarious.

As for the quests some I've had to do are: Kill these certain mobs; Look for a certain item, collect 5 feathers, a lot are "go search this person out" etc at least in the beginning. Haven't had to spend days camping anything yet that's a good sign
