The game move exceptionally fluid though and that's what counts. As for the gameplay itself, beating levels within a certain timeframe is annoying just to unlock abilities.Originally Posted by Super-Eggroll
Sweet, thanks Interpol. Man, this game goes way beyond "special edition."

As far as 2D Spidey games go, would you say it was better than the Sega CD game? Judging by the video, the animation looks smooth and everything, but if it doesn't have a music track by the lead singer of Mr. Big to back it up, it ain't up to snuff.
SWINGTIME!

Cowutopia, expect them to be by now? The system just came out, and you're acting like it's reached its visual peak.

I wasn't referring to the DS reaching it's "full potential" or anything, since it's brand-new. In fact I think it's pretty far from it, The mario 64 looked to be a tad under 64 quality to me though, and that was disappointing. Mainly, I just think they could have aimed a little higher with the hardware, you know?
I'm still a full believer in this system. It's very fun, and super super promising.
I had this idea for an rpg/style game where on the bottom screen is a conscience/like character, or something like a spirit bound to you or something, which would react to characters on the top screen and give you his advice/feelings about them while they were talking.
Like say you meet a guy and he's talking about his murdered wife and this buddy of yours says, in more eloquent language, "I'm getting a bad spirit-vibe off this guy. I think he's lying." You could take an idea and run with it to make a quirky rpg, or even an adventure game. Two convos at once, and of course access to an easily navigable menu. Perhaps a closeable one, allowing action on the bottom screen as well. Or maybe you could see a light/dark world simultaneously on top and bottom.
These ideas are pretty cheesy and follow from ideas already in some games, but I think some of these great developers will come up with very fun stuff.

So, is anyone else's right thumb cramped and immobile after an hour of Mario?
Thanks for clarifying, Cowutopia. It's nearly impossible to tell the serious concerns with the system apart from the endless flames here.

Hey Jeremy, don't get my post wrong.
Holding the system for long times with basically one hand while pressing face and shoulder buttons with that same hand becomes a literal pain. Seriously, my thumb hurts really bad after playing for over half an hour. I'm trying to adjust my grip, but to have quick access to the shoulder button and the jump button, while supporting the unit my hand turns into some arthritic cripples mangled claw. The left hand's pinky wraps underneath for some support, but the system just isn't ergonomically designed well at all. The design is more apt to slipping it in your shirt pocket, than providing a confortable gaming experience. Again, don't get me wrong, its all well and good for playing games without the stylus. The screen is so crisp that I'll get my moneys worth as a replacement to my SP, the touch screen just isn't doing it for me at this point. Even with the fabulous bonus games in Mario (particularly the slingshot) the touch screen seems like a gimmick. The whole system would be 1000x better with a freakin analog stick. This touchy stuff is for girls.
You was just looking at the Mario Kart DS picks, and am I the only one dissapointed that Nintendo has been showing the worst graphics so far? Mario 64 DS looks good, but you have to admit it could look A LOT better, and MK DS looks... worse.
I applaud Sega, though, for what they did for Feel the Magic. The presentation and 3D models are fantastic, although the 2D stuff is really grainy =/
Stop looking at pics. Most of them are blown up past the system's resolution, so of course they are going to look like shit. The DS looks 100 times better in motion than it does in stills. Blow Halo 2 up to 2400 x 1600 and let me know how the textures hold up.Originally Posted by Interpol
