Okay, fine, but this isn't going before an arbitrator, or even on paper for that matter. The interviewer says "so, no VF4 for Xbox?" and the guy flat-out says no. There is only one reason I can think of for a denial, and it's a pretty big one; that being that they don't want to hurt PS2 VF4 sales by announcing an upgrade so soon. Still, the standard M.O. is to just dodge the question or be mysterious, which developers, and Sega in particular almost always do to float an idea. Namco was hinting at Soul Cal 2 like a week after the first one came out on DC. Rumours of CvS3 came out a month before the second had even gone gold for DC in Japan.

  2. He adresses this when he says they aren't making VF 4.1 for XB. You could argue that he didn't say they weren't making Evolution by name, but that's just semantics, and would be silly.
So it's silly for some things but not for this. What about DOA2?
What about Resident evil for GC? (there's a gun game still coming to another format if I remember) They can easily go around it by changing the name around. I still hold hope this is just a case of sony making the most of the exclusivity period they have on vf4 and sega playing the game of promoting whatever they've currently got out for thier own interests.(they are a third party free to choose and have no reason to favour only 1 console. But if they know that fans have knowledge of an xbox version and that it could impact on sales of the ps2 game, then of course they'd deny it. I'd probably end up buying the game twice. once for ps2 then the next time for the xbox game. If they'd release them around the same time, I'd probably ignore the ps2 version.)

But yeah, it's a wait and see game. Companies kind of change thier plans all the time.

Tecmo got around their exclusive contract by stating that DOA2:HC was built from the ground up specifically for the PS2, hence it was not a port of the Dreamcast version. They made that point perfectly clear because their contract with Sega wasn't going to end when the PS2 was going to launch. IIRC the contract was going to end in November, and Tecmo wanted the game for October, so...

The exclusive contract between Nintendo and Capcom for the Resident Evil games only includes the main RE games, and not any spinoffs (Gun Survivor, RE Online, RE Dance Beat, etc). That's why you see the other RE games on whatever system Capcom chooses.
If my memory of her has an expiration date, let it be 10,000 years.
