From the commercial, it seems Bob Odenkirk is involved. I need to watch this.
Any one watch this on Sunday? It's another 15 minute short "cartoon" on Adult Swim about a man named Tom who goes and visits the mayor every episode with an idea to better the town, the mayor takes his idea in other more random directions and comedy ensues.
I use the term "cartoon" loosely because this show can barely be considered animation. The characters are nothing more than digital pictures of people who have been filtered and colored in photoshop. The show uses these still images for the characters, sometimes changing the image every 3 seconds or so to convey emotion or to articulate their mouth. Some one else compared it to to looking at comic book panels one after the other. The filters used on the characters make them look like they are sketched drawings with a white base color and blue outlines while the backgrounds are in full color and are all drawn in a computer. Every once in a while a live action scene might be tossed in there.
Quite frankly the show looks like it cost $1.98 to make.
The dialouge in the show is delivered in a dead pan conversational tone similar to Home Movies and Dr. Katz. That's either a good thing or a bad thing depending on your taste.
Tenacious D make an appearence in the first episode and even sing a little song.
The first episode was okay, nothing amazing, but I think the potential is there for something great. The more relaxed tone of the show is a definite relief from obnoxious random garbage that is Sealab (they need to cancel that crap).
This show may look like utter garbage, but I think you should check it out first.

Bob is the executive producer, hence the Tenacious D connection, and played a full live action character on the show (On TV)
It was okay, I do see a ton of potential.
The new Sealab wasnt bad either...
Super Milk Chan needs to die, quickly, that show is freaking terrible.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, you know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done. -George Carlin
Yeah, I watched this last night. It's.... hmm. I think it is one of those shows that I could end up really liking, but I'm not certain of that yet. It definately does feel a lot like Home Movies in terms of the way the humor is presented, and that's a show that I now love. I certainly think it is one of the more promising new shows they've put on, when you compare it to some of their other new stuff.
I was so hyped to see Milk, and was so ready to love it.... but it really is terrible. Even a Japan dork such as myself just can't find much funny about it.Originally Posted by Wildkat

It wouldn't be if CN aired the right fucking version. Death to the Original Japanese! Up with 100% Whole!Originally Posted by WildKat
I was pleasently surprised with Tom Goes to the Mayor. Really was. Tenacious D just sealed the deal. Bear traps, children dying... classic entertainment!

Seriously, look at this. The original show is terrible, but there's redeeming value to the DVDs.
Milk Chan needs to go to hell.
If only they could keep the theme song for the show playing in-between commercials without the show itself, then yes, I'd agree with you.
On Tom goes to the Mayor, I missed the first few mintutes, but even then it still held my interest. Like everyone else, I like the direction, too. I'll keep an eye on it.
I thought this show was funny, and Tenacious D definitely sealed the deal.
Color me intriguied...
Is that the show that was on a few days ago with the balding girl and her weird father and the even weirder song at the end?Originally Posted by Wildkat
