Thread: I bought an arcade cabinet

  1. Yeah, what he said. Stay away from the suction cup of doom too.

  2. How much do super gun's go for? It might be a nice way to play JAMMA games until I have space for more cabinets :P

Oh yeah, what's the 'controller' for a super gun?

  3. A Supergun is in the neighborhood of $300 with two joysticks included. Some are more, some are less. They almost all use custom made joysticks and most of the custom joysticks are the real arcade deal.

Same thing as the "controller" on your cab. It's basically just a control panel built into a box.

Remember, JAMMA is just the name of a standard wiring harness. Nothing more, nothing less. It was created to make game boards interchangeable. It's cheaper to buy just a JAMMA board instead of a whole new cab. for eery game.

  5. Hero,
You suxors. Here I am thinking I saw you on PSO last night and your brother was hopping it up on the game. Tell him to Quit using 3rd part fucking memory cards on PSO or it will probably erase his HUcast again!!!!

Other than that if you end up on deciding what you want to do, I would suggest getting a Neo 2 or 4 slot board and finally play Metal Slug at home.

    Congrats again

  6. Yeah, and my brother was up until 5 in the morning. Time to kick his arse =p

Anyway, I'd REALLY like to get a MVS cabinet, but I still can't find any around here. At least, any 2-4 slots.

Another thing about JAMMA, all I need to do is buy another game board and I could just wire it into the cabinet I have, right? I know that if I put in something that requires more buttons than I have, it would be a problem, but aside from that it'll be fine right?

Arcade Infinity sells japanese sitdown cabs (usually through ebay). If you live in or close to Southern California you can pick them up and save a lot on shipping. You could probably get a very nice 4 slot setup for around $500.

Just unplug the harness and swap the boards. As long as you plug the connector in the right way theres no worries.

  8. Sweet! Thanks for answering both of those questions

  9. Nice find, Hero. Have fun! Hopefully when I have the money I'll be getting a nice Sega Astro City cab from Arcade Infinity.

On a side note, are you still getting that Supergun Mode?

  10. If something requires more buttons than you've got, it's fairly easy to work around that. You could drill extra holes in the CP for more buttons.

Something like a U.S. version of Daioh (this one is modified in comparison to the Japanese original and uses 6 buttons, not 2) would need a JAMMA+ extra button harness (aka "Kick Harness") for uttons 4/5/6. I have one of these rigged to my F3 board (residing in a Kural 25 SNK cabinet) for Global Champion.

A really good super gun would be the Sigma Raijin- it looks like one of those twin sticks, only with a JAMMA connector on the side and video jacks on the back. It's around $319, and Kaiten Games sells that. The picture quality is superb- it manages to get a decent picture out of even composite. I have this hooked to an RGB monitor for vertical shmups and a 35" Sony for horizontal games; it's got both an RGB and a Video (for S-Video or Composite) jack on it.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)
