  3. This thread title should be changed to "Despair, Dolemite and Mr-K like Evil Dead more than you do."

  4. Or they know evil dead, what the hell do you know?

A forth one should have already been in the works a long time ago. I thought the castle that book was found at would make for a great setting.

When I was mislead to believe that the grudge was directed by Sam Raimi (fucking ads saying its "from" Sam Raimi) I shat my pants.

  7. Nope, all Sam did was be one of 10 producers. Oh, and he got his loser brother Ted yet another job.

  8. It rather pissed me off that Sam isn't willing to let Ash be a part of Freddy vs. Jason, when like EVERYBODY wants to see that, but he would actually think about remaking Evil Dead without Bruce.

The thing is, Evil Dead / Army of Darkness = Bruce. Bringing up the Dawn of the Dead remake doesn't work, because that movie was about zombies and a mall, and both versions gave us that. Evil Dead / AoD is about Bruce kicking the crap out of, and getting the crap kicked out of by, evil demon creatures. Hell, the opening credits for AoD even say "Bruce vs. Army of Darkness," not "Ash vs." Bruce is Ash, and that's all there is to it. It, indeed, would be like having somebody else besides Harry Ford playing Indiana, somebody other than Mike Meyers being Austin, etc.

If Sam wants to make a new Evil Dead movie, and have it about a non-Ash character, that would still be stupid, but acceptable. Having anybody else playing Ash, however, seems like a slap in the face to all of the fans out there.

'Evil Dead 4' and More Remake Talk from Raimi

Although the full interview will be coming to you in the coming days, SuperHeidi writes in with some (new) goods regarding Evil Dead 4 and the Evil Dead remake from the interview she had with Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert to promote their upcoming film Boogeyman. Read on for the skinny...

    Pur reporter SuperHeidi writes in:

Sam Raimi and Tapert, when asked if they were considering Sean Scott Williams for the part of Ash, looked at each other for a minute and then, together said, "Who is that?" Sam then said, "I don't think I've ever heard of him".

In regards to 'Evil Dead 4 Raimi says, "There will be an Evil Dead 4, and there will ALSO be an Evil Dead Remake. The remake will be produced by Ghost House pictures, (his company with Tapert) and it will star a new cast and a completely new director. The point of Ghost House is that we want to bring new directors (like Takashi Shimizu of "the Grudge" to Hollywood and give them a chnace to make a good horror film."

On WHAT inspired him to allow the remake, Raimi said, "I love the original Dawn of the Dead, and I also really enjoyed the new Dawn of the Dead. I mean, they are both really great horror films. I want to let somebody with a fresh vision bring The Evil Dead to a new generation and a new audience with a different vision..."

Contrary to what Raimi told Mr. D, the remake will be Evil Dead 1 and 2 together, but remade with a higher budget and a new cast and crew.

However, Raimi will be directing and producing Evil Dead 4, which will star Bruce Campbell as ASH and will also have many of the actors from the previous Evil Dead movies. Raimi says that "This is the project I really want to make. The remake can belong to someone else, but part 4 will be a continuation of the original".

Ted and Sam Raimi have begun writing Part 4, and will be developing it for production later this year. Bruce Campbell and Tapert will both be involved...
    Both films sound very cool.

But I assume this will be Rami's next project after Spidey 3, which is due out in 2007. Therefore, ED4 wouldn't be until at least 2008 or 9...Bruce'd be in his early 50's by then. Oh, well, we'll see.

I wonder which Army of Darkness ending Rami will go with? The theratrical or the director's cut?

I read "The Book of the Dead" and the place where they filmed it is like three hours from where I live. If it wasn't on private property I'm sure there'd be a convention up there.
    Time for a change
