Evil Dead remake (Update: News + Evil Dead 4 confirmed)

I wonder which Army of Darkness ending Rami will go with? The theratrical or the director's cut?

I've seen the S-Smart ending, so I have no clue what the other is.

The original ending Rami shot had Ash being given a potion by the old wise man that would put him to sleep for 100 years for every drop he took. Of course, Ash fucks up and takes one drop too many, and wakes up in a post-apocalyptic wasteland with a crazy-long beard. The last shot has him screaming in rage at the red sky.

When the studio saw the finished flim, they insisted he film a new, happy, 'Hollywood'-style ending, so what we got was Ash battling the she-demon in S-mart.

The regular Army of Darkness DVD Anchor Bay put out has the apocalypse ending as an extra. In the Director's cut of the movie (included in the 2-disc 'Boomstick' edition), the apocalypse ending replaces the S-Mart one, in addition to other scenes being added or extended (the original threatrical cut with the S-Mart ending is included on the other disc).

As for which ending is better, I think the S-Mart ending is certainly more fun, but the apocalypse ending seems more fitting. Hard to say which is better.

Amusing story...my girlfriend came along to the signing, despite not knowing who the hell Bruce was at the time. After I met him, he turned to her, extended his hand and said, "And you are...?" She was like, "Oh, I'm just here with him." Bruce replied, with his usual wiseass tone, "But you have a NAME, right...?" Swell guy.

I actually prefer the S-Mart ending over Rip Van Winkle Ash. They both fit the movie but the S-Mart ending is stupid fun. Plus Ash gets some sugar.
