Thread: Mario Baseball

  1. Considering it's the best multiplayer Mario Kart game available, I don't see what is wrong with that.

I didn't include Mario 64 DS in with the "No ports" deal because it's more than a port. There are multiple characters that change the way the game is played, extra worlds, new secrets, mini-games that are worth owning the game for on their own and a lot more. Super Mario World, Mario World 2 and Mario 3 were direct ports of their SNES counter-parts so I didn't include them, where Mario Advance was not. What is so hard to understand about that?

You're letting your fanboyism get to your head. Like I said, stop getting all butt hurt.

  2. The GBA games are "enhanced" also, they're just smaller games so the enhancements aren't as prominent. What's hard to understand is someone that claims to enjoy videogames considering almost every Mario game of the last 5 years awful. What exactly is wrong with Mario Sunshine, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Mario Kart Double Dash, Mario Vs. Donkey Kong, etc?

Yeah, I think I'm coming down with TNL syndrome. I don't have to open any thread anymore to know what's in it.

Go post some shit in S&B to amuse me.

As for Mario Baseball...nnnnnnnope. Maybe I'll pick up an SNES baseball game though. Or something for the PS2. If I ever go nuts and crave a baseball game.

There are no rules, only consequences.

  4. What exactly is wrong with Mario Sunshine,
Gimmicky. Weak level design compared to Mario 64, not even variations in the missions so the second half of the game is boring as all sin, the game gets very repetitive very quickly. It just feels like it was rushed out the door for launch.

    Mario Tennis,
Boring. Aside from cheesy power ups, there is nothing here worth playing over something like Virtua Tennis or Top Spin. Top Spin is also online which means theres competition at all times.

    Mario Golf
Same as the above, theres no reason to play Mario Golf in the eyes of Tiger Woods or Links 2004. So while theres technically nothing wrong with it, it does nothing special or different to make me want to play it. It's very mediocore and the fact that they already released practically the same game on N64 means it's just deja vu for Nintendo fans.

    Mario Kart Double Dash
Uhh...seriously. Where do you even want me to begin with this? Some of the worst track design in the history of video games, a learning curve of zilch thanks to any resemblance of skill being sucked out of the power slides, a shitty gimmick that results in "Hey! Two items lol!", items are totally fucked up thanks to specials, being in first place other than the final moments of the race is still a stupid move, and we can go on for hours.

Someone else said it best, Mario Kart: Double Dash should be considered an act of terrorism.

    Mario Vs. Donkey Kong, etc?
A huge disapointment in the face of Donkey Kong 94. Hell, they should have just ported that over with better graphics. I wouldn't have complained.

Holy shit. That is honestly, the most hilarious thing I've read all week. Kudos. You're amazing.

You're asking what I'm doing in this thread if I don't like Mario, and then you're egging it on. I love it.

I think there is something wrong with it - the lack of the fucking analog swing. Really, people, this is the superior way to swing golf clubs in videogame form. Click-click-click is a step backwards. This goes for you too, Hot Shots Golf.

I was thinking about mentioning that, but I considered the fact that it's primary audience is 6 year old girls and they cancelled each other out.

  7. Some of you were talking about the possible cast of characters in this game, did you happen to look at the screen shot? There are only TWO people in the infield/outfield, Bowser as pitcher and Mario Batting. There is probably a catcher as well. So its like 4 people total on field rather than 9. So this game could have a very low number of characters, when it should'nt.

But who knows, Nintendo has not really done a TEAM based game with Mario characters so you never know, the screen could be made just to show key Mario characters or something I guess.

I as well am really hoping for a koopa kid team.
    Barf! Barf! Barf!

  8. Arguing about Nintendo's lack of innovation is mute. They make just as many sequels as sony does. Microsoft doesn't get nailed for it as much because this is their first generation. In another 5 years, everyone will bitch about Microsoft's sequelitis.

Nintendo has released just as many original titles, this generation, if not more than the others. Just cause you don't like them doesn't mean they don't exist. Sure they bitch about the stagnant state of gaming, but at least they are trying.

Everyone bitches about Nintendo's release schedule. The reason it sucks is cause they have no help. The pump out as much if not more 1st party titles than anyone else, once again if you dislike them thats fine but it doesn't back up your argument. If they had 3rd party help all this bashing is gone.

On the notion of nintendo going downhill since the SNES days and stating their best days were in the nes era. Hello, every game out was damn near new and fresh. The 8-bit age was the fucking beginning. Kinda hard to completely rewrite the book when its all been done before.

Which leads me to this analogy...
Gaming is like sex, at the beginning is completely fresh and mindblowing. In time it loses its "wow" factor but is still enjoyable. Occasionally once in awhile , you get blown away by a neat twist on an old tactic and you remember why its so fun.

All this comes from a man who owned a cube but traded it in.
    Finished Games of '09
    nothing at this time

  9. I'm expecting there to be themed teams, with Team Mario having Mario, Luigi, Toad, the Princess, Yoshi, etc. Team Donkey Kong could have Donkey Kong and all the characters from the DK Country games/DK64, Team Bowser would have Bowser and his kin from games like Mario 3, team Wario would have Wario, Waluigi, and other characters from games like Wario World. I could also see them making it a playground type thing where they just lay out 40 characters and you each pick 9. I really don't think they'll botch it.

  10. Gotta love it.

If you are dissapointed with Nintendo you have 'blind hatred'
If you are satisfied with Nintendo you have good taste in games.
