Maybe it's because I'm Canadian and we have MuchMusic over MTV, but what's so special about Carson Daly?
His show's on right now and he's stiff, unfunny and dull, and all his skits suck. Really, I think every talk show host was somewhat more interesting then this guy. I know he was big on that TRL show, dont know if he still is, but even there I don't see what makes this guy so special from every other VJ. Call it hate or curiosity, but could someone please tell me why people praise him so much? He's terrible.

Most American's have shit taste in music. You just have to be fairly attractive in the conventional way to go platinum, really. You know that, you're right up there, being our hat and all. Why would you think we'd insist the douches who introduce our shitty music be held to any stricter guidelines?

Halo re-invented the FPS.
About every 5 years the entertainment media tries to knight somebody as the next "Dick Clark" (regular guy-music host turned TV show host turned producer). So you see all these glowing articles about what "great" people these guys are and they share thier scary visions for creating thier own media empires. Then they try to branch out and get over-exposed or they just suck.
This same thing was tried with Ryan Seacrest (American Idol host) just last year .. and thats going nowhere (although he did score a weekly top 40 gig on the radio, which is pretty good for him)
So in a few years .. there will be a new "Dick Clark" ... and everyone will fawn over him .. and then he will drift into obscurity.
