Thread: Early Oscar Predictions

  1. Early Oscar Predictions

We all see lots of movies, or well some of us do. (keyword me)

So let's see if we can make some predictions of the nominations for the Oscars.

    Best Actor:
    -----------
    Jamie Foxx (Ray)
    Johnny Depp (Finding Neverland)
Bill Murray (Life Aquatic w/ Steve Zissou)
Wild Card: Jim Carrey (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind)

Feel free to add categories, place your own actors etc.

  2. I really can't think of much, because not many "Oscar worthy" movies came out this year, really...

I do hope Bill Murray gets nominated (and wins) for Life Aquatic, though. And I have a feeling that Eternal Sunshine might be nominated for Best Screenplay, and hopefully, Best Actor as well.

  3. Eternal Sunshine was a good movie, but not because of Jim Carrey's performance. He didn't know how to show any other emotion than moping throughout the entire thing. Give Kaufman a screenplay nod, though.

And it's a bit early to say Bill Murray, considering Life Aquatic isn't even playing in select cities yet. But I'm really looking forward to the movie. I haven't disliked anything Wes Anderson's done yet.

  4. Kill Bill vol 2 anyone?
    Xbox Live- SamuraiMoogle

  5. I think Uma should be nominated for her roll in Kill Bill, but if she wasn't nominated for the first then I don't think she'll be nominated for the second.

  6. Farenheit 911 will either probably win best Documentary, but I read that it may be nominated for best film due to how weak this years movies were. Incredibles for best animation(I'm not sure what the category is really called but you know what I mean).

If a heavily opinionated Documentary (whether I agree with it or not, F911 I definately do not agree with) wins best film of the year it'll show how 2004 really wasn't that great of a movie year. I'm sure I could think of some films I though were good this year but I can never remember what I've seen and if I can remember I can't remember when it came out.

  8. It was a great year for MOVIES. Maybe not for the Oscar candidates, but for us regular joes who don't critique everything on a superhuman level it was great.

The Terminal, Dodgeball: A TRUE Underdog Story, Starsky and Hutch, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Shrek 2, Kill Bill Volume 2, Collateral, The Incredibles, I Heart Huckabee's.

I hope that Zach Braff wins for best picture with Garden State. That was a great movie.

And obviously White Chicks for best direction / screenplay.

  9. Garden State will hopefully end up with a few Oscar nods, as for other picks for best picture... uh... The... The Incredibles? Just as likely as Farenheit 911 to be nominated. Hm, I'm not sure at all, but it would be great if Murray churns out a great performance in A Life Aquatic and nabs an Oscar.

  10. I don't think Fahrenheit 911 CAN win best picture. It's not really a picture, it's a documentary. I'm not sure, but I don't think it can even be nominated.
