I've gotten a little bored with the FPS genre myself lately, though I'm sure Half-life 2 will statisfy when I finally get around to it. Found the demo of Doom 3 to be rather disappointing and Halo 2 multi is only fun for me now playing custom maps with a good group, which are never on the same time I am it seems. Matchmaking matchs are dull.

That's just like any sport or anything actually. In sports games its all about playing the odds. You can prepare yourself for your best shot at winning with every team. Besides, its all about skill until you play someone on the same skill level as you.Then there's luck involved. That's why most playoffs are best out of 7. You can fluke out a game or two, but no way you'll fluke out 4. Playing a shitty team vs. a great team is basically just a handicap option. Racing is a sport as well btw. So I dont get the sports game haters. I think its more like they hate multi-player games in general. The people that say stupid shiet like Halo 2 multi-player saves it, almost like saying Halo 2 sucks because its multiplayer is good or something.Or disregarding the multi player as nothing special and that the single player should be the only deciding factor in GOTY votes. You know, the same people that say Sega sucks now and then when you bring up the ESPN games and VF, they say something stupid like I dont like sports and VF is boring. Its all about what type of games you like and your mindset about gaming in general. I personally cant stand the haters of any genre. I like most genres myself.

The only series I can think of that really minimizes luck is VF. Balance is what that game is all about.

Try Call of Duty. It's like 10 dollars or so now. I think there's a pair of demos out there too.
