Not if you play for highscores. This place sounds like heaven the more I think about it. If they have a Mr Do! cabinet I'll call it home.
80's games get old pretty quick.

So should we plan for another NYC get-together around March, or is that too soon?
R.I.P. Paragon Studios
I just came back from Barcade.
Holy shit this place rocks. There were like 4 other colored people too! 3 of them chicks!
So yeah, I spent about 3 bucks sampling most of the cabs:
Outrun- loose wheel...although it might be that I suck
Smash TV- joysticks on left player are fucked and stick alot
1943- Joystick sticks a bit
Tempest- controls beautifully
Ms Pacman- Beautiful. Probably the best maintained cab too. It has the speed chip btw.
Rolling Thunder- Not bad.
Frogger- Not bad.
Moon Patrol- A little loose but otherwise great
Donkey Kong- A little loose.
Punch-Out!!!- A little loose and the buttons were a tad sticky.
Super Mario- A little loose, not bad.
DK jr, Commando and a few others were MIA. Sucks. No Mr. DO! cabinet either.
The place is huge and would've been perfect for the get together. A shame really. A lot of space to sit and chat. The music isn't even super loud so you can totally hold conversations with eachother without straining.
Beers were about 5 dollars each and they sell bags of beef jerky for 3 bucks a pop. I didn't get to try any of it because I was running late for work. Btw, the L train is like 2-3 blocks away.
I'm definitely coming here more often.

i remember Barcode (what a piece of shit), but never heard of Barcade. this news is of much interest.
Barcode sucked so hard that when it went out of business, it took Broadway City out of it's misery too.
Lazer Park is still open though.

IBTN.
it also didn't help that Broadway City tried to become a "club" too. people mistook it for a carnival shooting range instead. haha!
Bwahaha. But was that shooting actually a factor in its closing? Or was it perhaps that it was hideously overpriced?Originally Posted by Ashen Victor

The shooting just helped people realize what a shit magnet the place was.
Tourists don't come to NYC to play videogames. Why should any arcade expect native newyorkers to pay tourist prices?
