Jeremy, sorry to burst your bubble but wrestling isn't a sport and wrestlers aren't athletes.

  2. How are they not athletes? I figure the "wrestling isn't a sport" is just due to it being pre-determined, but elaborate on that if you wouldn't mind.

How are they athletes? They juice and get big. They're nothing but glorified body builders who can jump around.

  4. ...and work 10-30 minutes, five days a week in an athletic setting after traveling for hours each day and night with no off-season. A few pro wrestlers came from Olympic backgrounds, with even more coming from traditional amateur sports. Some, like Ernie Ladd and Wahoo McDanieal, achieved success in football before coming into wrestling. Tell me how these guys aren't athletes again.

And most sports announcers were real athletes too. Tell me how they're still athletes?

    10-30 minutes?

    ath·let·ic Audio pronunciation of "athletic" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (th-ltk)
    adj.

    1. Of or befitting athletics or athletes.
    2. Characterized by or involving physical activity or exertion; active: an athletic lifestyle; an athletic child.
    3. Physically strong and well-developed; muscular: an actor with an athletic build. See Synonyms at muscular.

Don't be stupid. They're definitely atheletes. Competitors? No, but definitely atheletes.

  7. In one sense, they are competitors, since they're competing for a slot on the card, a slot on the roster, etc. Just like baseball players are competing for a chance to compete in the minors, the majors, etc.

    n.

A person possessing the natural or acquired traits, such as strength, agility, and endurance, that are necessary for physical exercise or sports, especially those performed in competitive contexts.

And this is why real wrestlers are athletes, and WWE or whatever wrestlers are not. It's not competitive when you're simply acting out a script. Though I suppose it's up for debate on whether or not that "especially..." part is necessary, but I believe it's an integral part of being an athlete.

  9. Again, they're competitive athletes. I have a feeling this is something we're just going to have to agree to disagree on.

How the hell are they competitive? Maybe when they bitchfight behind the scenes on who's going to win, but they're definately not competitive while they're ACTING OUT A SCRIPT. You can't be competitive for something predetermined.
