Thread: Washington Post calls GameCube obsolete.

  1. Renderware being owned by EA didn't stop them from making GTA:SA. EA is rolling in it even moreso now and I'm loving it.

In my opinion, Gran Turismo 3 is still one of the best looking games this generation, even with the jaggies. It's really scary what they pulled off there.

And with the exception of MMO's (Because they don't exist on the XBOX), I'd rather play something on XBOXLive than on PC online.

That article made my heart smile.

Which totally makes up for three years of being pounded.

  4. I don't see how you can make that comparison. Sony had all the major 3rd parties locked up before MS even announced their system, and an established track record to say the least. If anything, in the grand scheme of things Sony's the one who's been pounded; they're being outsold in a market they essentially had a death-grip on. They aren't the clear favourite next gen by any stretch - they may even be behind now in terms of market perception.

  5. How? It's hard to keep selling when everyone owns the system already. Didn't I say this same thing 3 weeks ago...

IMO it's ridiculous to think that they're anything but the clear favorite.

And Warcraft, and Elder Scrolls, and Half Life, and Doom, and The Sims, and Civilization, and Diablo, and Battlefield, and Baldur's Gate.

Or the actual Metal Gear games themselves ported over to the PC with insane graphics, no slowdown and analog controller support (which ain't no thang on the PC nowadays).

I think you're totally underestimating the sell-job Halo 2, Tom Clancy games, XBL & Fable have done on casual gamers this year. It's not existing PS2 users buying a second system by any stretch.

Read GameDaily Biz - the analysts are basically all saying the same thing; Xbox has the mass-market perception of being the hot-new-thing; best hardware, biggest (okay, biggest marketing campaign) game. Don't take it from me, they've done studies & shit.

The deck will be reshuffled next gen - MS won't have the hardware edge, and Sony still has Japan in their back pocket. But right now, (more than a year from the PS3 launch, mind you) best case scenario for Sony it's neck & neck in the west going in.
