Thread: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

  1. Get shot. Run up to him. Shoot him. *smirk*

A good way of keeping on him is to activate your heartbeat sensor, find him, shoot him, then when he starts to run, turn on your motion tracker and stay on him. If he changes areas, repeat.

Be wary that if you go for a tranq win, he will recharge his stamina, which is a bit annoying. It's easier (as is always the case) to just hose him down with an automatic weapon.

Completely unnecessary remake. and while Kitamura's styly of cinematic action add style, it didnt fit Metal Gear one bit. Especially Snake doing flips and stuff.

As for Snake Eater, we played some last night, and it is pretty good.

    Yes.

It's quite a neat mini-game. Very Devil May Cry-ish. Makes me wonder whether it's a demo from an actual Konami game or was it just made specifically for MGS3. You get the sequence when you save your game at the jail cell (after the torture sequence).

I've already gotten through a great portion of the game (already fought all the Cobras, including The Sorrow). It's already alot times better than Sons of Liberty. While still a bit cinematic-oriented, it's nowhere near annoying as it was in MGS2.

Does anyone know where the sniper rifle is located in the Snake Eater mission? I had to beat The End without it and it was rather difficult.

Also, the game has skips a bit during Radio conversations. Anyone else has this problem?

    A few cool new features.

    Then this is a buy.

If you hated MGS2 for more than the story, this is not going to be something I would reccomend you buy.

    MGS3>MGS>MGS2
Coolo, sounds good. I loved MGS and loved MGS2 gameplay wise. Anything to say towards specific complaints from likes of Penny Arcade and such? Completely unfounded complaints or are they just making too big of a deal out of small existing problems?
I thought you were gay.... i guess not.

I don't think saying that MGS never STFUs is an unfounded complaint. The series should learn to cut it a bit shorter and really shut the fuck up once in a while.

I agree that the camera style and overall controls are a bit archaic, to the point where it mars my enjoyment of the game.

  6. Well, I beat the game. I didn't do Snake's Nightmare because I didn't know what it was. I might still have that save, but I might have written over it. I'm not sure. Anyway, this is my goty. I agree with MVS that MGS3>MGS>MGS2. I like the story in this. There's some amazing scenes in the game. The graphics are probably the best I've seen on the PS2, and the cut-scenes are amazing. The ratio of cut-scenes to gameplay seems to even out after the first few hours of play. If you're a fan of MGS, I would say you should definately get this.

Also, I know that you can unlock special camouflage by beating the bosses in a non-lethal way(making their stamina run out). I haven't done this yet, but I have a feeling this is going to be a pain in the ass against some of the bosses.

Both are totally competent in MGS3. Neither is in GTA: SA.

It can be frustrating, but I'm fairly certain it is that way by design. Even though the camera can be moved a bit, and locked, it forces you to go slow, and sneak. You can plow through it and shoot everything very easily, but if you want to sneak, it's going to take at least double the time.
