Thread: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

  1. So does the story tie into MGS 2 at all?

I've only ever played MGS, and MGS 2 very briefly, but I don't really want to go forward in 2 because I've heard it's really not all that great.

So basacially can I start MGS 3 and still fully enjoy the story?

  2. Sure can. It stands on it's own. If you enjoyed MGS, I'd be very surprised if you didn't like this.

edit: Yes, it does tie into MGS2, though only tangentally. You might not appreciate the making-fun-of-Raiden stuff as much if you don't hate him as much as most people, but its fairly understated in any case (a thunderbolt on a pair of underwear won't mean much to you...). It does either clarify, or attempt to clarify one point that I'm sure some people were wondering about (those that didn't fall asleep during the MGS2 ending that is)

Yeah, I got that, but if Ocelot was a CIA agent, why did he come after Snake and try to kill him at the end?

So is whoever the guy you're playing as now just as badass as Solid Snake?

  5. Moreso I'd say. Particularly near the end of the game. And it IS Snake! Muhahahaha.

minor Actually, I think he's even cooler than Snake

He was never trying to kill him. That bullet he kept trying to use was a blank, remember? Even in the end, if he had won the duel and pulled the trigger nothing would have happened to Snake. If anything the reason he always went after Snake was so he could make sure Snake survived. Trixxy hobbitses, yes.

  7. All I've gotta say about Ocelot is 'mrrrrrrrow'

    wtf mate

    Actually...

Ocelot is the lost love child of The Boss and The Sorrow, who was abducted by the Philosophers when he was born (shades of Olga and her kid). It's never directly mentioned in the game AFAIK, but when you talk to Eva early in the game, she mentions that Ocelot's mother had a snake-shaped wound when she was giving birth, which is exactly what The Boss will show you when fight her.

Well now, I don't know exactly why you put "actually" since you didn't change anything we said, only added to it, but yeah that all checks out and leaves me with just one thing to say...
