Well, at least we all know it will be 20 bucks in a month or two after it tanks so we can try it out for ourselves.
But seriously, bad news.

The gist of it is that the game is now a combination RTS/Action RPG where you control the main character, and the PC AI controls everyone else, rather than the turn-based one that's been Shining Force since the Genesis days. I realize the NiS rules this niche right now with Disgaea and others but this was Shining Force, a series with serious legacy.
Maybe they'll pull it off, maybe they'll make a good game out of it, but I seriously doubt it. Hopefully they don't screw up Shining Tears.

I thought the entire point of the Shining name was that each offshoot had its own style of gameplay. If this isn't going to play like Shining Force, then call it Shining Heart or some shit.

No, because they never came to the U.S.Originally Posted by Melf

If Sega had any smarts (Not latelyOriginally Posted by Melf

From what the video shows, I'm actually impressed. Hopefully this game will open up new styles of gameplay.

I lost all hope in SEGA years ago. Worst gaming company out there.
And Nippon Ichi needs to first make a good game before ruling this niche genre.
look on the bright side... at least they didn't rename it Shining Force XTREME.
MK2 on XBLA plz - let the unfolding of gameplay begin!!
