    Did that ever come out?
No, and it's not an RPG. It's a fish sim/action/adventure without the level-ups or magic spells. I wouldn't call River City Ransom an RPG, either.

  2. GC works more for games such as Mario Party, Mario Tennis, SMB, Mario Kart, etc. 4 players + Wavebirds + HDTV = gold. Otherwise, I played Tales on it and plan to get RE4 in hopes that it is HD. But overall, PS2 is all I need for my RPG and SRPG fix, and I know the Box is all a lot of my friends need for their FPS and sports games...so whatever...the Cube is cheap as hell and has that awesome holiday bundle deal for 99 bucks...even if there are only 5 or so great games to play on it, it is worth your time for those alone...

  3. Wow... the sales numbers for Under the Skin are hilarious. Capcom never, ever should have thought that they could get away with selling that game for, what was it, $50?

After playing the demo, I would maybe own this for $10, tops. And, by those sales numbers, it looks like I might not have to wait long to get it at that price.

Hm Actually if you include this whole YEAR (2004), I personally liked the GC's RPG lineup better than the Ps2s or the Xboxs. (I'm not a fan of really morbid/dark rpgs like Shadow Hearts 2, Shin Megami Tensei, etc or just "meh" ones like almost everything else on ps2 this year (including SO 3). Tho I liked La Pucelle Tactics

The Xbox has KOTOR 2 this year and um I think thats it..

GC had Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos, and Paper Mario 2. (Together thats like 100-160 hours of RPG gameplay.

For me anyway, GC simply had more rpgs I wanted to play this year.
I thought it was obvious I was comparing ps2 rpg's to ps2 rpg's, since I didn't mention either of the two systems.

Obvious to everyone except the GC fanboy, that is.

And if you call games like SMT 3 or Star Ocean 3 meh, but then go on to name Baten Kaitos, you're more of a GC fanboy and a general idiot than I thought.

  5. Roufuss - You can express your opinion without being rude you know

Im hardly a GC fanboy, I play games on all 3 systems (including rpgs obviously). Like I said, this year GC simply had the RPGs I liked the most. I didn't say that that is true for EVERYBODY, its just my personal opinion.

You said something along the lines that the PS2 is pretty much the place to be for RPG Fans for the fall/winter part of 2004 (All the games you viewed as "noticable" were on ps2. I expanded that to all of 2004)

That of course begs the question: As compared to what? (ie. as opposed to the ps2) The answer is of course the GC and XBox.

So I stated my opinion on the matter. This is a message board . Thats what you do (politely I might add )

BTW, if you had READ my post X-P youd see that I did NOT call SMT 3 "meh". I simply said I was not a fan of that kind of rpg (one with a really dark/morbid atmosphere and story).

    I called SO 3 meh

I dont think I was alone in calling it "meh" (and by Meh I mean not outstanding, not that its a horrible game or anything)

It got a 83% overall rating at gamerankings and a 79% overall rating at metacritic.com, not exactly OUTSTANDING you know..

    http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages4/536705.asp

    http://www.metacritic.com/games/plat...ltheendoftime/

As for Baten Kaitos, well firstly, its my personal opinion. I really liked the game (and especially the different kind of battle system), story was excellent and the graphics/sound were REALLY good.

You, of course, may not like it because its simply not your tpye of game (or possibly battle system), however you cant simply say im an IDIOT and a GC fanboy because I like Baten Kaitos more than SO 3. Its a matter of personal taste in rpgs..

Also Id like to point out that at gamerankings.com, Baten Katios got an overall review score of 82 (1 point below SO 3) and metacritic.com gave it a an overall score of 81 (two points HIGHER than so3)

    http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/917921.asp

    http://www.metacritic.com/games/plat...e/batenkaitos/

I dont think I'm alone in liking Baten Kaitos a lot They got a VERY similar score at both sites. ( I liked BK more mainly because of the battle system)

So before you say something very rude (and maybe act like a ps2 fanboy, reacting with bitter insults instead of polite discussion/opinion), maybe you want to think twice before typing anything next time.

  6. I'd like to reply sensibly, but your writing is so erraditic I don't even know where to begin.

    Some tips:

    1) Not every 2 sentences need to be broken by a space. You break a paragraph because you're moving onto a different though, not because you just used a period.

    2) All the smileys in the post give people the illusion that you are 14, and are lacking in intelligence.

    3) Comparing gameranking scores of games is the WORST way to make a comparision. I guess by that logic, GTA: San Andreas and Halo 2 are some of the best games of all time then?

Honestly, you may have made some good points, but I'm not reading through that shit stain you call a post to find them.

Wait, I managed to, and here it goes: GC had three worthwhile RPG's. Paper Mario 2 was a clone of the original Paper Mario, and while it's fun, it hardly stands up to the best on either ps2 or xbox - (which is KOTOR 2.). Baten Kaitos got slammed for it's lame characters, cliched plot, horrible voice acting, and generic scenary, with only it's battle system standing out. It sold decently on the GC because the GC fanboys are desperate for any sort of new content, let alone an RPG.

Tales of Symphonia is the only worthwhile RPG to grace the cube, but that's only in the US. So when I compared ps2 rpg's to ps2 rpg's, it's because the ps2 has the bulk of them, and the best ones (KOTOR 2 is in a class of it's own, American made RPG's are vastly different from Japanese RPG's to compare them side by side).

And actually, if I recall, when talking about the noticable RPG's of the ps2 for Fall / Winter, it was in relation to a FALL / WINTER RPG THAT HAD COME OUT FOR THE PS2 AND ITS SALES. I have no clue why you expanded that to all of 2004 and all systems.

And looking back at the thread, I wondered why SMT 3, a ps2 RPG, bombed. I listed reasons that it may have been because of other major ps2 rpg's this fall / winter. You literally cut out the part of my sentence that was conveinent for you, for you to expound on your little "let's look at all the 2004 rpg's and Gamecube was the best!" It had NOTHING to do with what I asked or was wondering, and it had NOTHING to do with the thread. Unless you mean to tell me that somehow the 2004 GC RPG's took away from SMT 3's sales?

I'd say the same to you, in regards to sentence structure and wording.

There's a reason why no one on TNL takes you seriously. It may be the fact that all people see is this:

Your journalistic reputation unsurprisingly remains intact.
