Thread: Anyone have sales numbers for some of the fringe holiday titles?

It's weird to see that something like Nocturne got really good word of mouth too, but sold so really poorly.

I see these threads on TNL, and everyone seems to be enjoying these games, but a thread like this reminds me that the "hardcore" people make up such a small percentage of sales.

I mean, every board I've been to, Taiko Drum Master and SMT got good buzz, but to see them not even break 10,000 =/
Most of those are Nov numbers except in that LTD post. Maybe SMT would've done better if it'd been released somewhere between April-July.

I really can't think of any other RPG's that overshadowed it though.

I mean, if you're a RPG fan, I think the only games that have come out this fall / winter that were noticable were Star Ocean 3, Shadow Hearts 2 (which probably bombed as well), and SMT 3.

Just surprised that more starved RPG fans didn't pick it up to try something new.

  3. I wonder how well Katamari Damacy did? Or Guilty Gear X2 #Reload? Or Capcom Anniversary Collection?
    PS2 STREET FIGHTER ANNIV $451,735 15,206
    XBX GUILTY GEAR X2:RELOAD $96,380 4,925

SF Coll not too bad, GGX sucked.

I dunno, I think it's actually pretty cool. Any company that thinks something like KOF: Max Impact priced at $50 is gonna sell worth a shit against Halo and GTA deserves the harsh reality check. I'm glad to see things are progressing the same or worse than last Xmas, maybe publishers will finally get the message to price their games at what people are actually willing to pay for them. I'm actually surpised they didn't pick up the hint this Xmas, considering the recent positive example of the ESPN 2K5 games selling fantastically at $20 where last year they sold like a turd on a stick at $50.

    8 PS2 SHADOW HEARTS:COVNANT $300,832 6,089

Another thing to consider is that I spent time hyping up La Pucelle & NIS' other stuff, but not the other ones mentioned. Don't underestimate me!! *shakes fist* j/k

  6. So I wonder what the secret is, (other than you RedCo ), that Mastiff could manage to get over 50,000 on La Pucelle, but other companies with simiarily good games can't even break 10,000?

Shit, even at 20 bucks, people still didn't buy GGX2, and that was on Live =/

Not releasing it during the clusterfuck that is the holidays, I'd warrant.

Well, I think Nov was it's 2nd month out, so it's probably more around 15,000 total. It'd probably have done a lot better if they actually had decent distribution, I've seen it once at EB and nowhere else.

La Puicelle rode on Disgaea's coat tails (Disgaea selling over 120k iirc). I think with Phantom Brave though, things are wearing thin. I doubt any other NIS America release breaks 50k before the subsidiary inevitably folds.

  9. for Nov,
    espn nfl 147,530
    madden 489,564

    3.3:1 ratio

  10. I think it depends on how much Phantom Kingdom brings back what people liked about Disgaea and didn't like about Phantom Brave, while at the same time throwing in something new. Atelier Iris sure as hell isn't going to set any sales records, even though it's a game I like enough to buy again when the US release hits.
