Thread: Fat set to join the cast of Pirates

  1. Fat set to join the cast of Pirates

    From Darkhorizons.com

"Hong Kong action hero Chow Yun-Fat is set to star in the upcoming sequels of box office smash "Pirates of the Caribbean" according to Yahoo News.

Citing Chow's wife, Jasmin Chan Wui-nin, Chinese-language newspaper Apple Daily said Chow will play the famous 15th century Chinese pirate Cheung Po Tsai for the second and third installments of the film.

Chow will team up with members of the original cast including Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush and Keira Knightley along with newly joining Keith Richards as the father of Depp's character.

Chan said both the movie's producer and director contacted Chow's management company in the US two months ago and Director Gore Verbinski flew to Hong Kong last week to discuss the screenplay with Chow.

"The director was very sincere about it and specially flew to Hong Kong and discuss the script with Fat Gor (Chow's nickname) ... but we cannot talk about the details until we sign the contract," Chan was quoted as saying."

I could see Chow being a pretty cool pirate.

  2. Geoffrey Rush
Why the fuck is he coming back? His character's dead.

  3. I still chuckle when I think of Keith Richards acting like a pirate.

  4. Weird and funny how Keith was brought in after Johnny Depp emulated alot of his mannerisms. I dunno though....Barbosa coming back? The sequel is running the risk of the "cash-in" and might end up trying too hard to top the first.

  5. Nah. If there's a good reason for him to come back, it'll be fine.
