Thread: Arranged and Special Game Soundtracks

  1. Arranged and Special Game Soundtracks

Rearranged, remixed, and vocal soundtracks make game music enjoyable outside of playing games.
    Sometimes.

I'm sure you've all heard this, for example. Final Fantasy music sounds like synthesizers no more!

Another of my favorites. Each character has his own version of every stage theme in the game. This CD has them all on each track, enhanced to Albaquerque and back.
Then there's the Guilty Gear XX Vocal CD: Live in NY. I can't describe this. I can't. Here, listen:

  2. I've never even hear of the Clone Wars soundtrack, thanks.

  3. Yeah, I found that Clone Wars soundtrack a while back, good stuff.

  4. Was it released through Sega's site or was it actually in a retail store, maybe as a pre-order freebie?

  5. No, it was in retail as a product for sale. They did ones for Vectorman, Sonic 3, and perhaps a couple others, as well. I also have the Vectorman one, but they didn't soup it up nearly as much as the X2 one.

  6. The Sega Tunes line was very good. The Toejam and Earl one was especially fantastic. They got a live funk/jazz band together for that one. Sounds excellent.

They sold them at Sam Goody's and such, like any CD, but they were very limited. If I remmeber they did Xmen 2, Sonic 3/Knux, Toejam and Earl 2, Vectorman, and Comix Zone. The toejam and vectorman ones were faithful to the style of the original material (with better production, new flourishes, etc). The sonic and CZ ones were really radical interpretations of the music, almost unrecognizable at times.

    Other ASTs I loved:

    Gunstar Heroes
Dynamite Headdy (only 2 tracks arranged, but they rule)
    Phantasy Star Collection Vol 1&2
    Anything by SSTBand
    Anything by Motoi Sakluraba
Sega Arranged Collection (classic Sega bits)

Gamerips are easy to find if you know where to look.
    R.I.P Kao Megura (1979-2004)

  9. One AST I like is Grid Seeker~The Dictator of Justice. Zuntata's Guten Talk 2 CD live concert set is to die for, especially with its earthshattering live version of Metal Black's Dual Moon.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)

I totally have a DMC promo CD featuring three kick ass tracks from the game. It was an "only in Japan" deal. Cost me $8 bucks however many years ago DMC released.
