It's a deliberate attempt to mimic Raizing's shooters, most especially Battle Garrega. This is what most people are expecting

  2. I think it was mentioned SOMEWHERE in this thread that Ibara is a Raizing style shooter.

I was reading over the thread and noticed no one answered your ealier question, but this was made by a number of ex-Raizing staff, so it's less a homage and more of a continuing business, I suppose. My copy is still shipping, but I like almost anything by Raizing (more than I like Cave) so my opinion on it isn't going to be worth much.

It's a little of both. It's more than just an "influence". It's like how Border Down is to Metal Black. Yeah, it has some of the same staff, but they made a deliberate choice to return to the mechanics of this particular game. Ibara is trying its ass off to mimic the conventions of Garrega/Batrider/Bakraid.

Now that my copy arrived early, I can say Ibara doesn't play anything like a Cave shooter, at least in arcade mode. So it's less of a returning and more of a never left. The arrange mode though is a strange Raizing/Cave hybrid that feels like Raizing mimicking Cave. I can also say that if you're not going to play it tate, you might as well not bother. The screen is just way too busy to try to handle it crammed into a vertical orientation.

Raizing mimicking Cave mimicking Gradius with the Type bar on the bottom. I've been playing this for the past 7 hours with a friend. Rock on Cave.

I consider that closer to theft than mimicking, but I really don't care. The weapon upgrades are great and having shit blowing up all over the place is just fantastic. Other than the loading, I'm super happy with it.
