Thread: David Cronenberg's A History of Violence

  1. David Cronenberg's A History of Violence

"A History of Violence" is the New David Cronenberg movie comimg out in early march, I beleive. It's based on a graphic novel and centers around a man who becomes a local hero when he kills a couple of attempted robbers, seemingly in self defense. But investigation reveals that similar incidents have happened to this man in the past; that he has a history of violence. That's where the trailer ended.

Looks pretty good. Stars Vigo Mortissen, Ed Harris, and William Hurt. Anyone know where I can find the trailer for download?

  2. Correction: Apparenty the trailer isn't "out" yet, that's why I can't find it.

  3. Cool. I'd heard of it but didn't know when it would be released.

  4. Release got pushed back to November to maximize "Oscar buzz". It's pretty much done, but the exec screening was well recieved.

Also, these (meaningless) Oscar predictions seem to predict big things for HoV:

And some rave reviews from test screenings:

    The buzz is very good.

At least it was delayed for a positive reason.

The website has launched with a short clip (not a real trailer, unfortunately) and a synopsis.

  8. I just recently fell in love with Cronenberg and want to have his children. this should make a fine dinner date.

  9. Just got the special edition of Videodrome the other day and it reminded me how damn good of a director Cronenburg is. Its a crime he doesn't get more notice than he does.

  10. I think most of his work recognition only comes from The Naked Lunch.

He did a good job on The Dead Zone to.
