Thread: GT4 RUNS AT 1080i !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. but my point, and diffs point is that there have still been no major leaps in the AI department. yeah theres penalties during races, but only for the player and not for the cpu ai. i mean ive been one of the biggest gt fans for a while but with the ai being exactly the same (ie...non existant) all i have to say is fuck this noise. you might as well be racing yourself and last time i checked the point to a racer is opposition. which is what the online was supposed to provide. i mean really, is it THAT had to make cars not act like drones? i get so furious in games (especially more recently in NFSU 2) where the fact that a cpu controlled car follws their set path. and god forbid you get in their way because you end up eatign the wall and they dont. its utter crap and something all racing devs need to fix.

use this second link if possible, since it isn't some guys ISP hosting

That is a 21 meg video someone posted on another board. The sense of speed is insane. It's pretty crappy encode quality though.

edit: yeah I dunno about the AI. I'm not going to argue that the AI of the series is nothing spectacular at all, but hey at least it isn't EA cheating AI. But I haven't read anything about GT4's AI so I don't know what to tell you, though I'm going to assume it hasn't been improved greatly.

  3. if its anything like the prologue its the same as its always been. ill be damned if it isnt one of the best looking games ive ever seen tho.

  4. Diff, I know other games have had Times Square, I'm just amazed that they got all of the trademarks and stuff in, which I don't recall being in other games. The car bumping punishment really gets on my nerves, as it's just going to restrict how you can race. I don't mind that much when it's confied to one or two race types, or races, but for the whole game...ugh.

The only other game I can think of off the top of my head that had Times Square in any commercial detail was Project Gotham Racing (and Microsoft has a bigger team of lawyers than Sony).

What are you complaining about regarding car bumping punishment? You pull that shit in real life and you get either disqualified (and fined and suspended) or your ass beat (depending on if the race is actually sanctioned or not). Polyphony putting any kind of deterrent like that should be a good thing. All they need is a time penatly for stupid corner-cutting tricks (black flag in Moto GP (PS2), or the time doubling while off the track in Moto GP (Xbox)). I know GT2 (and 3?) would invalidate any attempted time records if you did that, but it was all good in the actual game.

Yeah, restricts it to "the right way" ;p I'm sure you can disable it.

  7. I hope you can, and if that's the case, cool. The lack of online is another bummer as well, especially since it was delayed AGAIN and yet still left out.

but the ai still has its drone mentality and they dont suffer the speed penalty. thats what makes the game have a fake challenge. why should you have to drive around and worry about hitting all the other cars that will inevitably hit you if they dont suffer the same penalty? like i said its just fake challenge and you can bet ill be turning it off.

    Japan

Well, mine arrived today and I have to get back into GT mode because Im taking the turns WAYYY to fast

I love how it looks on my TV, but for some odd reason it (the picture) flickers on the night tracks before the race begins...

The AI is the same as all the other GT games, but I still love it..

  10. the AI was fine in GT3, i dunno why people like to bitch about it.
