Thread: Tony Hawk's Underground 2 PSP

  1. Tony Hawk's Underground 2 PSP

...Is really good-looking for a handheld.

    New levels, too.

  2. #3
I think most of the free world is burnt out on Tony Hawk games.

The second one was really good but after that it was basically the same thing over and over again. THUG apparently fixed that and added more but I wasn't moved enough to really care. I don't even have (nor want) a broadband adapter.

That said, I don't really think THUG2 in portable form is really going to make people go nuts (although wifi multiplayer could be nice)

Eh, there were significant changes in each version. Certainly more than most games with yearly installments. THPS4 is the only one that I'd consider pretty much the same as the prior, though it did rework the career mode.

  4. I already ate up portable THPS with the GBA games. This has just solidified that I now must have a PSP.

  5. I get more and more excited about the PSP every time I see something about it. I honestly couldn't give less of a fuck about THUG 1 or 2, but this is amazing on a portable, and it's even more impressive to think that all this stuff we're seeing is only first generation software.
Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.

  6. I still can't think of a time when I'll want to play something this complex outside of my house. THPS2 for GBA was more than enough for me. Graphically impressive and all, but I don't know how practical it really is.

I've been meaning to try a THPS game past 3, though. I really loved 2 and I still pull out 2x every now and then, and I can remember a time in high school when literally everyone was playing it, even people who had no interest in video games, and it was a pretty great time. 3 didn't hold my interest, and though I was interested in THUG and semi-interested in THUG2, I've never taken my PS2 online nor do I have plans to, and the no-Xbox Live announcement kind of killed my enthusiasm for the sequel.

  7. I lost interest after THPS3 when the game shifted from trying to be as realistic as possible, to being ridiculously unrealistic.

It's still impressive that the PSP can do that.

  8. Holy shit on a stick, that looks amazing. Well, Sony's going to once again rule over a side of gaming in no time flat.

In the same way that there were 'significant' changes to each version of Street Fighter. People who have learned the subtle intractices of the game would feel that there were major changes to each revision, but casual players and non-gamers would think it is just the same game re-released.

Wake me when they fix the stupid scoring system from the silly recite-a-line system that it has now (THPS4 was the worst in this regard, expecially on Alcatraz and San Francisco -- but the darkslide glitch in THUG made things just as stupid). The game does look really good though; it almost looks identical to the PS2 revision.
