Oh, in that battle I was playing as The Black Whirlwind. So I just aggro'd the fuck out of him until he called up the Horse Demons, then took my time with them, then aggro'd Kai till he died. It wasn't even a challenge.Originally Posted by JM
very good, thats what i ddo too, except i saved my chi for healing, if you use stunning palm, wait till he does his hard strike because you want to hit him with all of it, when i hit him with a full normal combo he was stunned for exactly 2 full combos for me of legendary strike, times will vary depending on your slotting but i just whittled him down with that.Originally Posted by g0zen
as for jm's buddy
i just let black whirlwind at him, the first segment of the fight is easy, as whirlwing has massive reach, so i just stayed on him with basic combos, when he went channeling i just took out the horse demons(immolate dosent last that long) and went after him again, the trick is to stay on him, if he gets range he can use magic, and that will screw you over, look for him to go into his magic aoe, you can usually roll behind him and get 2 combos off on him while its fruitlessly hitting in front of him. are you sure you are taking fire damage on each hit from the horse demons? i never noticed that, they usually go down pretty fast and only cheaphit me when they die and explode

Time for a change
I just fought The Ravager and lost, gonna try again soon.
I really like this game's story and I'm really being pulled through it on the strength of the narrative and characters. That said, the combat system is really simple and easy to exploit. Sure I just died on a boss, and died quite a few times before I figured out the system, but I think the combat in this game is pretty fucking pathetic. I haven't used a harmonic combo, I only use one style (thousand cuts), I don't pay much attention to what gems I have equipped and most of the time I don't even realize I have a partner. I think it all comes down to the fighting being so basic. All I really need to do to win any fight is go into free target mode, run around behind my enemies and mash the a button, and occasionally flip out of the way of attacks. I would'nt be so bad if I could do more than one combo and the controls were more responsive.
Anyone agree with me on this?
Anyhowz, like I said the story is nice, I'm gonna get back to it right now.
I, too fought against the Ravager with unpleasant results. No matter - I'll just level up during the main quest.
Sagacious Zu has left my party, that sonuvabitch better not try anything.

yeah iw as wondering about that, i did a lot of sidequests, but i didnt doOriginally Posted by g0zen
kangs big quest, the map that he forgot about, i thought here would be more free time after the first meeting with the emporer and..well, you remember how that went. but beyond that i did a lot of sidequests, i saved the orphins, got the guy married, set all the spirits to rest in the necropolis, hell i even did all the dragonfly shooter missions for that parts guy in the imperial city where you land. i dunno, i guess the kangs quest was pretty involved. anyone who hasnt beaten the game, dont read this part
anyhow, gozen, was it me or did the baddies from the"other" on really freaking weak, deaths hand didnt even hit me with the doubleswords from the girl in the arena and maxed stone immortal, the "other" was a fucking joke, his ox demon servant was eviscerated in seconds with focus+chi+doubleswords, the doubt puzzle was gone in seconds with stone immortal and the last guy, again, stone immortal+double swords had him to 25% in no time, i actually slowed myself down and used my starting style, legendary strike, for storyline purposes(li taught me it, i will finish him with it) the last serious baddie for me was that traitor spirit monk and her buddies by the first fountain in chapter 5! again i dont hold this against the game, its goty all the way barring oblivion this year, but man, last baddies aint what they used to be. man i wish there was a star wars game done with this engine, i said itbefore but ill repeat it, the style mapping was genious.
mega spoilers up her do NOT read
EDIT:fuck, that was close..stupid spoiler tabs :P

Human enemies, including bosses have ZERO defense against this tactic making for some very unfair boss fights.
Picked this up today and just finished playing about 11-12 hours in a row as I've reached Heaven of the Shadow Fox, and the only reason I forced myself to stop is so that I'll get at least a couple hours of sleep before work. This game is fantastic, it's everything RPGs have needed to evolve into for the last couple generations.
