I chose the sword as a weapon and now I'm not so sure I should have done it. But when I went back to the weapons master I had already pumped a development point into the strength of my swords swing. I think I'm going to end up putting my focus above my chi to become a force with the blade.

Anyone got any advice for beating the part in the arena in the gold matches where everone comes at you one by one? I can get past the first few without another one coming out but once that elephant demon comes out I can't take him down fast enough so I get swarmed by everyone else and get my ass kicked. Any advice?

My tactic: Hit-and-run. Take my above advice for handling groups by performing only a couple attacks at a time and then getting the hell away, going through them by tier.

I was falling behind by the time the guy after the toad demon showed up so I ended up having to face about five guys at once, and the elephant I saved for last. When the three brothers show up I killed the long-range attacker first so that I wouldn't have to worry about random off-screen blasts coming out of nowhere, then the quick guy because he can easily seperate himself from the group, followed by the status effect guy. The main problem is that once everyone bunches up they'll always walk around together as a pack so you have to use very careful pecking or you'll get the elephant's wrath. Focus probably would've been helpful if I ever remember it existed (I've only used it for my rarely held staff) but otherwise don't use Chi for anything besides healing. It's not a quick method but as long as you're careful the only thing you have to worry about are stray swipes from the elephant.

fash and hard hitting, elephant and toad are both slow moving, so hop over them behind them and go hard with your strongest weapon, i was using crimson tears and it whittled them down fast. remember that the first strike of the elephant is a room clearer, but his second hit was much easier to dodge, so keep your distance witht he first strike and move. also, avoid leaving too many in a group, once one enemy comes, take him out fast. I agree with mech about taking down the magic user brother fast, but seriously watch the fast brother, if he does a full combo on you he can eviscerate you, even with 75% health. the "strong" bother is seemingly the weakest of the group, he never gave me any trouble, its that freaking agile brother who i found tough

I brought up an old autosave from before I decided to kill the mother and killed the fox. I killed her, her peanut infested elephant and her followers too. I'm going to keep two quests going at once if I can. A good and a bad one. So far I've taken out the heavens themselves.

Being evil is so fun.

I still have to kill the mother, though, so that's a good thing. More experience.

MASSIVE SPOILER! IF YOU HAVE NOT BEATEN THE GAME DO NOT LOOK AT THIS!

I beat it yesterday, I walked the ways of the open palm. I have to say, the ending is pretty hollow, but I guess it's because Sun Li was such a weakling when I got to him. I'm going to start a new file pretty soon, I'm going to be evil the entire way through, I noticed that you don't get evil points for just saying evil things, but rather - by doing evil actions, that's cool. There are also some quests I didn't finish (Lao's Furnace), and some shooting levels, oh and I missed an entire follower, damn.

I just started a game yesterday and so far I really enjoy it. The graphics are really nice and the gameplay is smooth. Lots of story too.

I've figured out a couple of the Lao's Furnace configurations. you have to put the bulls stomach shit and the nickeled bars into the machine and press them in the right configuration.

It doesn't seem like you need the configurations. I just keep playing around with them and figuring out new ones. It's a waste of time but... I'm having fun.

Okay I'm doing Krang the Mads side quest and now I have to go and save Lao the inventor. I'm doing well in the fighter mission (full health even) until a big swirling ball of electricity, presumably the boss, swoops down and destroys me, apparently I can't hurt it or dodge any of its attacks what so ever.
