Thread: Nightmare on Elm Street

    Nightmare on Elm Street

Nightmare on Elm Street is one of my favorite Horror Movies the first is the best IMO and the scariest. The opening is amazing. I didn't like part 2, but part 3 The Dream Warriors was a favorite. Why did they decide to make Freddy Kruger funny or a comical character? He was much better as the burnt child killer. I did see Freddy's Dead with those cheap ass 3-d glasses, and The new Nightmare had a cool premise.

I'd love to see a prequel where we see Freddy as the child killer he was and how the Mom's caught him and burned him that would be a cool premise eh?

    Any fans of Freddy Kruger?

  2. Here, Here

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Nightmare series as well. Fist one was great, and was one of the original and scary horror films of its time. Great character of Freddy, cool premise of him hunting you in your dreams, great fx and good direction of Kraven. Part 2 wasnt as good, but FX were great, and me being gore/fx junkie liked it as well.

Later parts 3,4,5 moved little into horror/comedy hybrids, but I still enjoy them alot. Again great FX, and cool dream scapes kept me the fan.

I didnt like Freddy Death that much. It felt like something was missing in it. Never experienced in 3d either

ANd I hated New Nightmare, other than couple cool FX scenes it was worthless, and reworking of story and intermixing it with real life didnt work. Bad, bad movie. Plus it started Kraven descent into crap film territory with Scream film, and I lost all the respect for him

Freddy VS Jason will finally be coming out next year. Ronny Yu(HK Director) who directed Bride of Chucky, was confirmed to bring it to the big screen. I'm all exicted, since he infused Bride of CHucky with great energy, and made it a best film in series.

Freddy vs. Jason should be cool but I wonder how they are going to do it?

Dream Warriors was cool how in their dreams the kids at the mental institution could fight Freddy.

I heard rumors of a New Nightmare on Elm Street that's non related to Freddy vs Jason.

  4. the first film was without a doubt the best becuase of how scary it was. (like that girl floating above her bed before she was killed in a bloody mess) I was dissapointed with new nightmare when Freddy took that chick the kid was with to the ceiling and said "ever played skin the cat?" could've been a great moment, but he didn't follow through...
don't wanna tangle with you, I'd rather tangle with him.
I think I'm gonna bash his head in...

The first one was the only one actually scary, except for the laughable ending. (Her mom's body just sorta sucked itself into that window ) My second favorite Craven film, still beaten by The Serpent and the Rainbow.

What didn't you like about New Nightmare Despair? I thought the premise was quite unique.

  7. Yes, It was unique premise, but the execution was less then perfect. It was boring, not scary, didnt care about little kid, and revalation of Freddy as a Demon, was pretty stupid.

Plus it was least FX packed one. Not much blood either.

That pretty much started a streak of Crawens crap films, followed by Screams.

  8. What was that Phantom of the Opera movie (by Wes Craven) called?

  9. Huh? Crawen directed Phantom of the Opera film? You sure you not mistaking it with the one, where Robert Englund played Phantom?

That one was directed by Dwight L Little. Pretty decent horror film.

  10. I agree with Despair in that the First Nightmare was the best and the scariest, and that New Nightmare was lacking.

For some reason most people don't like past 2, but I thought it was good. The concept of Freddy possessing someone and becoming real was very cool.

I also didn't like how Freddy became more and more of a stand-up comedian as each movie went by.

That being said, while I like Freddy and all, I hope Jason whups his ass in F Vs. J.
