Just asked a co-worker next to me about the MGS3 physics. He studied physics at Yale (has a Masters) and says the idea behind the Shagohad isn't too ridiculous at all. Basically turning a single stage rocket into a double stage rocket.

Just how far would an ICBM "coast" off a 300mph slingshot? I would seriously like to know that.

The supposed enhanced range of the stripped-down missile is 6000 miles, and the single-stage rocket only normally gives 2500 miles of that. It's only getting a 300mph boost, and while I'm not good at math I don't see how that is going to more than double the speed of a missile that is already going around 3,500mph.

(That speed estgimate is going off the speed of the first stage of a Peacekeeper ICBM. It may or may not even out either way since the MG would be firing a lighter missile which means a smaller booster, but the wieght would also mean it would approach its max speed quicker then the former. Hard to say without more exact facts, but nevertheless that doesn't strike me as being anywhere near fast enough to launch something of that size for very far and then double its speed.)

In any case, I wasn't going to watch the 15min trailer but I suppose it can't hurt. After all, since it's going to be over a year until I play it I'll probably have forgotten all about it by then.

Yeah, wtf was up with that? I know Metal Gear Rex made sounds like a T-Rex, so are these Metal Gear Bovines? These machines of death shouldnt be bleeting like cattle.
