Thread: Who's got an Xbox VGA adapter?

  1. Xbox Who's got an Xbox VGA adapter?

Which one do you have? Does it do the job well? I'm looking into getting one for a friend and everything I've read has pointed me to this one right here:

    http://www.x2vga.com/

    Thanks.

There was a thread on this a while back and I think some people commented on theirs.

You might want to consider the Vdigi vga box, it works not only on xbox but GC & PS2. Now there is apparently a new version that has better image quality and is a general component to VGA box (u can hook up a dvd player). These guys did an updated review (read pages 2 & 3) at team xbox . They compare it directly to the x2vga, but I don't know about pricing.

  3. Looks good, thanks again!

  4. damn, it's only 56 bucks- I think i might pick one up myself. I wonder how the quality compares to more popular converters like the audio authority one. It might be hard to find some videophiles that tried this thing out.

  5. Damn, I bought the XVGA adapter from someone on this board just before the new VDigi adapter came out. Universal VGA adapter via component cables is a great idea. If I buy another Xbox (this time, modded), I'll get the VDigi adapter.

As for the XVGA adapter, I only used it twice, but the picture quality seemed very good to me.

"The first thing you need to know about the Enhanced VD-Z3 is that it is a true VGA adapter, or what is known as a transcoder; meaning it converts both progressive and HDTV video signals to the VGA standard accepted by most desktop monitors. If you see a VGA adapter that is suspiciously cheap, it is more than likely just a “scan doubler”; a device that only accepts standard TV signals (interlaced) and converts them to VGA. These low-priced VGA adapters won’t let you enjoy HDTV on your computer monitor. "

id say its probably better. i read this review last week and have just been waiting to get enough spare money to get one. the pass-thru option is a nice bonus.

  7. I use the Vdigi and it is fantastic. I haven't used the x2vga but I can't imagine it being as good as the vdigi.

  8. When I finally get back home I think Ill buy one of these and set it up in my room, and finally put that 21" monitor I have back to use. Good thread.

  9. I've had an X2VGA for a while now and it works great except for a couple of things. My old Xbox was about to croak so I picked up a new one in December. The first thing I notice when I hooked up my new Xbox was that the colors were off. No problem as this is mentioned in the instructions with the X2VGA and I just had to flip one of the dipswitches which did fix the color problem. The strange thing is, with the new Xbox, certain games no longer work with my X2VGA. Voodo Vince and JSRF are some that I haven't got to work. Something different inside the new Xbox? Anyone else run into this problem?

  10. Yeah, there are new video encoders (there are at least 3 total now). The new version of the vdigi claims to work fine with all of them.
