I finally saw this tonight. It was a really good movie, but Venom wasn't done right. Particularly his voice, it sounded like he was going to ask Spidey to a wine and cheese party. The way the symbiote just shows up is lame, which is a by product of cramming his whole story line into the other half of the storyline. They really needed to focus the movie on Venom, or leave him out.
Mary Jane was a cunt most of the movie. She was hotter than Gwen though. I think that Howard girl is cute usually, but she didn't do anything for me in this movie.
The dance scene was one of the worst movie scenes in a good movie of all time.
It wasn't nearly as good as 2, but I haven't decided if I like it more or less than 1.
This is a crisis of epic proportions.
Agree with most of the sentiments on here after I finally got around to seeing this. Too much going on, Venom deserved much more air time, and Mary Jane's character was focused on entirely too much. Worse than 1 and 2 by a mile, in my book - which still makes it better than most "comic films" out there.
Actually, my first impression with Dr. Conners' symbiote sample was that Carnage would be done. Or something like Carnage , another non-Venom symbiote since Venom looked to bite the dust in SM3. I hope not though -- I have always HATED Carnage.
If there is a SM4, I hope the originals come back as much as possible, and that we finally see The Lizard. I hope Liz is done as an almost Hulk-like villain character -- seething hostility and destructive , he regenerates and can't be easily hurt. It would be cool to throw in Scorpion too since it would involve lots of great Jamison scenes.
I say SM4 should be Venom/Carnage, and SM5 should be Mysterio/Lizard.
And while Shocker is unworthy of being a main bad guy, I'd love to see him in a cameo robbing a bank and getting caught by Spidey.

Gymkata: I mean look at da lil playah woblin his way into our hearts in the sig awwwwwww
Does no one think that in Spider-Man 4 they will introduce Gargan not as Scorpion but just as some assistant to Dr. Connors who takes the living bit of the symbiote and becomes the new Venom?
It's not that hard to believe, really.
