Oddworld's out of business? I'm cool with that. The only game they ever made that I actually enjoyed was Abe's Oddysee. After that, they seemed to go the 'forced wackiness' route Shiny went with EWJ2, which annoyed me. The half-assed jump to 3D just sealed it.

Nope. But I played Munch, and it pretty much sucked. Stranger's Wrath looked like a mediocre FPS, and Oddworld's track record (for me, anyway) didn't really tell me it would be anything but.

Well it's medicore for a FPS, but they just can't destroy the roots of what made it good in the first place.

A couple of posts back, you indicated that you hadn't bothered to play it yet. On what are you basing your opinion that it's a mediocre FPS (which, btw, is played mostly in 3rd person)? I've played through the game twice, and there's nothing mediocre about it, although tastes certainly vary. You and Dolemite and whoever are probably missing out if you haven't played the game, which has highly original gameplay mechanics, a cool and amusing Western setting, and sports some of the better graphics and effects of this generation.

I never gave a shit about ANY Oddworld game. I played all of them to some degree and not one of them ever clicked with me. I was fully anticipating to pass on this too but I saw a video on an OXM disk that changed my mind so I bought it. I must say it is an original through and through. The gameplay, story, graphics, plot twists made this game amazing. One of the only "non XBOX Live" games that I'm actually keeping.

I don't care what anybody says, as somebody who bought Stranger's Wrath at launch and played it, I can say it is a truely amazing original title. One of the three best games I played last year.
Actually they have not totally abandoned gaming. They have shifted there focus, but the Oddworld Series is not dead.
