Thread: Top-loading NES = Bad pic?

  1. Top-loading NES = Bad pic?

I just read a random article on how the top-loading NES suffers from some "ghosting pixel" problem. Is this true? I'm aware that for some odd reason Nintendo got rid of the composite hook-up and left us with only the RF signal (*shudders*). Can anyone who has one of these units confrim or deny that the pic is somehow worse that the original NES units?

  2. I never noticed a problem.

  3. I'd rather see ghosted pixels than flashing screens of death.

I got one, and yeah, it's shite, but better than flashing screen as previously stated. I don't know a thing about video setup, but it seemed almost decent as long as I ran it through my VCR then AV out. There's also way to mod it by cannabalizing an older NES, which should be quite readily available.
One of my friends bought a new famicom, and the manual had a copyright of 2001! You may want to consider that route.

  5. Never noticed ghosting, but there are tiny lines throughout the the picture. Read a faq years ago on how to mod the sytem to get rid of them, but can't remember where. I just got used to them.
Would love to get composite out of it though.

It looks like a normal old shitty RF connection.

We're not playing NES games for the high quality graphics... are we?

This is what blew my mind about people wanting to give their fucking NESs RGB mods.

It's an NES that plays NES games, wtf.

I use black and red Radio Shack av cables I bought a million years ago with my original NES system, and it kicks ass.

  8. STFU Mzo, you obviously never experienced the supreme SQUARENESS of the blue block (aka the ball in Pinball) with RGB.

I play my NES through component video.

My Xbox has nothing to do with this... really.
