Man I loved that show. That and Roughneck Chronicles. And both got cancelled
    Invasion America was a miniseries.

  2. I'll just touch on a couple of things:

    - Family Guy blows, they'd have to do some programming magic to make a good game based on this license.

    - I consider Futurama and the Simpsons to be two completely different shows that aim to do different things, and as such shouldn't really be compared to one another (despite them being created by the same guy - unlike American Dad/Family Guy, which is the same drivel by the same guy). But despite what I just said I'll compare the two breifly just for the hell of it:

Futurama is a wonderfully amazing and deeply touching show, but come on, nothing holds up to golden age simpsons episodes, nothing. Futurama is a show that is more amusing than laugh out loud funny, you might mildly chuckle and think to yourself and think: "heh, very clever", but the moments that make you burst out loud laughing are pretty spaced out, if there are any at all. This isn't a bad thing, but it's a completely different experience than an old simpsons episode. Whereas in those episodes of the simpsons there would be both extremely clever jokes and laugh out loud moments in every single scene, in every episode, from begining to end. Then again, Futurama has a much more emotional impact, but that's not what the simpsons is about, the shows really are different animals.

    - I always considered Sprinfield to be Illinois, because there is a Shelbyville in it's neighboring state of Indiana.

    - I'm amazed that people other than myself actually remember invasion america. I'd love to see it again some day, especially since I no longer remember what the show was actually about. As for the Roughneck Chronicles, I only ever saw a single episode, but it wasn't bad, I would've watched it if it was actually syndicated better (I think it ran on scifi channel in the early mornings or something). These two shows bring up memories of another completely random space cartoon, lets see if any one remembers it: Red Planet.

There's a Springfield in practically every state. And do you really think they'd name it Springfield after an actual city called Springfield?

Actually, it's both. It started out as a mini-series and was meant to be an ongoing series, but it lasted only 13 episodes.

And that episode had like 30 funny moments. Point not made.

Self-awareness doesn't automatically make things funny. It's pandering the viewer into braindead submission. "Not only are we not trying, but we're going to run this unfunny joke into the ground until it's 'great'!" (e.g. Bender's stupid human horn comments, or Family Guy's Peter breathing heavily for a minute after he gets hurt on the sidewalk)
No, things being funny make things funny, like both of the examples you mentioned as being unfunny. Way to miss the point.

Luck of the Fryish is one of the best TV episodes ever - surprising and heartbreaking. Using the same exact structure again shows total arrogance and laziness on the writer's part and using a dog is a cheap device, grossly sentimental pathos.
It's a fucking backstory. And they didn't use the same thing over and over again, because he didn't revive him (like he did the clover), and the dog waited for Fry the whole time, meaning Fry was wrong.

I guess you missed that part.

    I did.

I hear what youre saying, but I think Jurassic Bark is significant also because it shows a really bad, horrible side of Bender's personality. For me, that was the high point of that episode, not the end where the dog is waiting.

but come on, nothing holds up to golden age simpsons episodes, nothing.
This is not the right way to think about things critically. If I say, "nothing is better than The Godfather Part 2, nothing", does that say more about the quality of the movie or my close-mindedness? Seriously.

Your point was that the show rehashed the story, and my example proved that the stories were different. I think it's cute how you try to be like me though, I appreciate the vote of confidence.

So basically I should just say you're gay right now. That's where you want this to end up.
