Thread: Phantasy Star Universe

  1. I thought the problem with card games was they're boring as hell, more dependant on luck than anything else, and when you can just as easily play them with people around you or perhaps set up something online, why would you pay a monthly fee for it.

I wonder if all the haters would be as zealous in their rage if it weren't for the stigma associated with card games. It's proven to be one of the only two (three if you count Baten Kaitos) that I've liked. I actually enjoy it more than Eps.I & II.
    Proven aye?

I've thought about picking the game up at some point. Doubt if I'd take it online and have to pay for a subscription to do so.
Yeah, that IS most peoples' big gripe- but the dice issue in question can be set however you'd like it in most cases, so I'd think it would be a moot point. Outside of that, the strategic diversity is unparalled- and duping doesn't ruin the game. For as cheap as the game is now, it's definitely worth a try.
If you have a sub for Eps. I&II, it works here as well.

  3. Does it have a monthly fee? If not then I deem it worthy of time. Oh and excuse the arrogance :P

Oh and I can't seem to watch the video because the buffer freezes midway through the viewing. Anyone able to actually get a hold of the video without going through sega's crappy stream?

No, I don't. That's why I'm saying: I doubt I'd pay for a subscription. I haven't played Eps. I&II, since the days of the Dreamcast.

In the context of my post, it is proven. I like it. That's irrefutable proof that I like it.

But don't get me wrong, it still won't be everyone's cup of tea. When I first heard of it, I wasn't down with the idea, disliking CCGs as I do.

  6. Wake me when they show some actual gameplay footage. I have low hopes for this game.

  7. I tried to like PSO 3, I really did.
I played for at least 20 hours.
That's almost a whole day of my life wasted.
Hoping PSU willl make everything right again.
    Knowing that it won't.

Isn't that the point of card games?

I hated PSO Ep. III at first when I tried it at E3, but the next time I played it it kinda grew on me.

But that doesn't mean I want another card game.
    All is well.

  9. You made me come in here thinking that there was new info about PSU released.

It had better be a new online game. It had better take what PSO did, and this time, get serious with it. It had better not include any of that BS "click on creature and watch your character fight" combat that so many MMORPGs have.

It had also better not be a single player RPG, unless they can do it right. If Skies of Arcadia is an example of what a new single player offline RPG would be like, stop the project now and write off the losses.

Truth. I still don't trust Sega to make a good game otherwise anyway but yes, don't make a SP RPG, particularly if it ends up like Skies of Arcadia.
