That game was hard, but nothing was harder to beat than the Swordquest series on the Atari 2600.

What initially screwed me up with Raiders of the Lost Ark was not knowing it used two joysticks. I still need to beat the game too.

Swordquest is crap from what I have played. I have Fire World but no desire to play it even if the difficulty was normal.

Those Swordquest games were hard. I never got anywhere. And you just reminded me of the end of ET, which I beat more times than I care to admit.

Newer games- Story mode in F-Zero GX owns your soul. And Hoshigami whips the werewolf's ass with a belt.
To boldly go where lots of men have gone before...

2 joysticks? I saw my friend beat the game using one joystick. What is this 2 joystick play you talk of?

  5. I call bullshit on your friend. You need the second joystick to pull essential items out of your inventory.

Oh, and I'm in the "I totally beat the shit out of E.T." club. It's a pretty good game once you know what you're doing. I can see why people hate it though.

I too can beat E.T to this day, pretty good is debatable.. worst game ever its not...

Can anyone else beat Haunted House on 2600? I love that game...

That game was fantastic. Way ahead of its time. It was an adventure game, but it had alot of other gameplay thrown in. I guess it was a little disorienting in hindsight, and it was the kind of game that involved alot of trial and error but I never found it cryptic. That last room with the Nazis and the ark was a friggin nightmare, but the game was beatable.

Yeah, I had fireworld, and was so bewildered by its nonsensical nature that I bought Waterworld in the hoped that it could shed some light on the situation, only to find it was even worse. At least Waterworld became collectable and snagged me some money later on (It's apparently one of the rarest games on the system).

Agreed, I didn't think ET was all that bad. It is stupid, yes, but there were a ton of 2600 games that sucked.

I could beat Haunted House in all 9 variations back in the day. I used to play that all the time, it was a great game. I toy around with the bats, etc and running circles around them in the dark. Controlling a pair of eye-balls had never been this much fun!

I have not played the game in over 20 years. I couldn't recall what the second joystick was used for. All the whip play and jumping was done with the first joystick.
