Now I want to go back and beast on it... damnit!

edit: Looked it up on GameFAQs, there are no d.plats... so either you or everyone else is on crack, and I'm not sure which. Damn you! Games still hard as hell though. Apparently the Euro/JP versions were nerfed to hell, though -- looking at the time chart on GameFAQs, they added several seconds (at least) to all of the medal levels for every single mission. Also found out what the last rank is (and it's hilarious): "You can stop now." True that.

    ....

Duck Hunt has no ending. You go from 1-99 and then loop back (but the miss meter doesn't reset).

LOL level 99!! I would like to see the speed of that level.

Yeah I don't even know where to begin but....wow

Yea this is an old thread....

Anyway, I gotta find one of those for Cybernoid to see if it had an actual ending!

BTW, who here has beat Dragon Warrior the 1st one?

Never heard of that trick, but Alien Wars is my favorite Contra, but it's the easiest I've played compared to the 1st one, and the latest editions to the series.
Dont be a robot, be human.

  3. i finished the original dragon warrior. didn't actually do it until middle school, because every copy of the game i had/borrowed had a fuxored battery. And ironically, the same thing happened with Dragon Warrior 2.

  4. Dragon Warrior was pretty easy once you found that area with tons of Golden Golem things. Taking one down took a lot of work but you'd get a shit load of gold and experience points. I might have those confused with the special slimes though.

Still and awesome game for it's time.
"Chuy, you're going to have a magical life. Because no matter where you go, it's always going to be better than Tucson."

  5. I remember storming the last castle in Dragon Warrior at a stupidly low level and just running from every single enemy that came my way to get Erdrick's sword or whatever it's called. I don't think I was even level 10 yet. It was awesome.

I did like two or three times. I remember one time I was going just to see the evil ending and was getting ticked off at all the random encounters inside the final castle, and kept yelling, "Dammit, I'm here to join you, stop attacking me!"

That reminds me of the wyvern glitch. There were two square of land next to a mountain range in a fairly early area that were accidently labelled with the same monsters as the other side of the mountains, which was meant for much later. I used to walk up and down those two squares to fight wyverns until my guy couldn't take it anymore and then would trek back across the really easy area to go restock and heal.

  7. Yeah, I mostly kinda suck at games. Which is strange since I've been playing them since the Intellivision (Bump n' Jump was indeed awesome). I've only beat a couple of all the old 8-bit games mentioned so far. My greatest accomplishments:

Mischief Makers - all 53 gold gems. Average Record: A

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee - rescued all 99 Mudokons

Wipeout - er, I finished it. It was hard for me.

Mega Man & Bass - finished with Mega Man.

oh yeah, also Rayman on PS1 - got 100%. But I used the infinite continue cheat. Still, it was quite difficult.

I used to wander into dangerous areas, and exhaust all my supplies to kill the hard monsters because they gave better experience. It also reminded me of how many risks I use to take, like fighting slimes and drakees when I only had 2 hp left, and figuring they only hit for 1 pt of damage, and I attack first, and i can kill them in one hit. It worked out for the most part, but there were those times where your dude would miss or hit like a bitch and screw you over.

  9. Indiana Jones (2600)
    Battletoads (NES)
    Milon's Secret Castle (NES)
    Adventures Batman and Robin (Genny)

The only one I played relentlessly trying to win it was Indy. I just could never figure the darn game out.

Games that took a long time to figure out:

    Mike Tyson's Punchout (NES)
    GNG games (NES, SNES, Genny)
Ninja Gaiden 2 (or was it 3?) (NES)
Phantasy Star (my first RPG, got lost/confused a number of times) (SMS)

I spent countless hours on that game. Today, of course, I can run straight through the GNG games, but it took forever to learn the patterns the first time through. I'm glad not all games are like that any more, but I think they were a good thing.

    No gnus is good gnus.

  10. Bill & Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure (NES) - I couldn't complete this game, but not because it was challenging, but because it was so poorly designed and the game didn't give you an idea of what the hell you were meant to be doing. It doesn't really matter in the end because the game was so bad that trying to complete it would feel like a slow horrible torture anyway.

Trojan (NES) - Really damn frustrating. You fellow isn't exactly the most athletic fellow because when he jumps he can just barely make it past the games gaps, and the boss battles were insanely cruel and unfair. Only managed to get to the 5th stage on the map when I was younger, no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't get past that point in the game.
