I'm ashamed of TNL. The first reply to this thread should have yeilded a picture of Opaque.

I doubt you'll see anyone at their shows... being that they're not together anymore.Originally Posted by Vasteel

How could you not know that was a Stones song? YOU'VE PLAYED TWISTED METAL: BLACK! ITS THE BLOODY THEME SONG!

Yeah, Rites of Spring are generally considered the founders. The bands that followed them sort of had a rediculous admiration for them. Sunny Day Real Estate just sort of tied the emo feeling into a more palatable package, which in turn inspired a bunch of other punk bands that got popular, but who did not neccesarily play emo music. That is how the label got passed on, and even if todays emo has lost almost any resemblance to that of the early 90s and 80s it does have a central influence.

I've always wanted a fucking eye patch and gnarly scar where the eye used to be. But until I lose my fucking eye in battle, I don't get to wear the eyepatch.Originally Posted by Mr-K

What about Life's Blood(although I guess they are more hardcore) or Hot Water Music.

Early emo is a direct result of hardcore. Rites of Spring, however, started their thing as early as 84.Originally Posted by Vasteel
