    I played Planes Mistaken for Stars on the radio show I was doing last quarter. It was total garbage.

    I don't think they're considered the original. But they are one of the early emo bands.

    The Fire Theft is the newest band with most of the Sunny Day members... but it's nowhere near as good.

  7. Yeah, Rites of Spring are generally considered the founders. The bands that followed them sort of had a rediculous admiration for them. Sunny Day Real Estate just sort of tied the emo feeling into a more palatable package, which in turn inspired a bunch of other punk bands that got popular, but who did not neccesarily play emo music. That is how the label got passed on, and even if todays emo has lost almost any resemblance to that of the early 90s and 80s it does have a central influence.

    I've always wanted a fucking eye patch and gnarly scar where the eye used to be. But until I lose my fucking eye in battle, I don't get to wear the eyepatch.
    Glasses should be the same way. Them's the rules.

    What about Life's Blood(although I guess they are more hardcore) or Hot Water Music.

    Early emo is a direct result of hardcore. Rites of Spring, however, started their thing as early as 84.

    Now I know...and knowing is half the battle.

    Yeah, I remember going to shows and emo bands weren't really seperate. Egress is the best of all the late 90's bands, IM not so HO.
