Team A is playing Team B. In the 7th inning, Team A is up 3-2 when Team B gives up 3 unearned runs. Now the game is 6-2, effectively out of reach late in the game. So while Team B didnt technically lose the game on shitty defense that caused unearned runs... it still did, because those unearned runs changed the complexion of the game.

    Just a hypothetical.

If Jose Reyes and David Wright made those plays then the Mets are out of the inning. I assume that Looper comes in the 9th and does his job as well. Of course Looper could have blown it too..who knows. I don't care how many unearned runs count or didn't count. Those are plays that should have been made. That was a heartbreaking loss but like I said.. I just hope Reyes and Wright learn from their mistakes.

I give credit to the Yanks for taking full advantage of those errors by double stealing Womack and Jeter as Piazza can't even throw my grandmother out. From there as Diff said..the complexion of the game changed as the momentum shifted straight to the Yanks. The Mets just couldn't recover.

Team A scored 2 of their 3 runs unearned.

it was 8-8, which doesn't prove anything because of sample size either way. I like how i know nothing about baseball, when you don't even understand sample size.

  5. Just watched Jays/BoSox series. I really like the NESN announcers.

If it was so much better, then it certainly wouldn't have been *7-8* against the NL East. Remember, you said "BY FAR". I'm not saying that it the AL East couldn't be better (in fact, I'm pretty sure I said "NL East is *probably* better"), but come on.

So yes, you still know nothing about baseball, but taking multiple statistics courses on my way to my math major, I'm pretty sure I know something about "sample size".

Yeah, Jays' announcing crew is a total snoozefest. Although I like Jamie Campbell better than Rob Faulds.

Jays just swept the Red Sox...is it just me or does that team suddenly have no pitching? Pedro's gone, Schilling's hurt and has an ERA of 8, and Wells needs to retire.

It's not only that: the NESN guys actually made me laugh. Also, they weren't ridiculously biased (*cough* Atlanta Braves announcers *cough*).

Hopefully they take out their anger on the Yankees.

    Random comments:

And will the Orioles just lose already?!? Damn.

Wells doesn't need to retire. He needs to get punched in the face. I hate that loud mouth fuck. It felt soooo good to rag on his ass when I saw him get destroyed by the Jays earlier in the season.

Its unbelievable how homertastic and boring that Braves announce team is. Now only do you have to deal with Skip Caray but now his son Chip!! They occasionally have a father/son announce day with both Caray's and they added Ron Gant who is atrocious.

When all three are announcing there is so much "us", "we" and "our" when they speak. Like .."He would be great on OUR club", "I hope we can get out of this inning"..etc.

I have no problem with one homer on an announce team but all of them??!!

Fran Healy sucks by the way (Mets announcer) as does John Sterling (Yankees radio) though I admit that Sterling entertains me sometimes with his hilarious calls.

  10. I miss Harry Carey.
