People at my work asked me to explain the end to them... I told them I couldn't. Mainly because I haven't seen it since opening night.

There's multiple interpretations of what happened at the end goin around right now:

1)They died in the car crash and are stuck permanently in purgatory(this seems to be the most widespread theory). -- not likely, given no real explanation points to this or even backs this up

2)Dark Alessa(the "look at me, i'm burning" one, not the barb-wire one) uses Sharon as her next vessel(Christabella state's that Rose's daughter was the next vessel for the demon), and disallows Rose to leave SH(either through the subconcious of Sharon, or perhaps some of the 'darkness' Dark Alessa put into Rose allows her to control her). -- most likely possibility

3)This is a "jacob's ladder" interpretation of Rose's final moments of subconcious life(it's thought that she wanders around after the carcrash, and dies from internal bleeding in a secluded area of the forest, unbeknownst to the police/her husband) -- most unlikely theory I've heard

4)PH has a rape party at Chuck E Cheese's but nobody came to it, so he was sad and went looking for Anna

After watching this on DVD again, my original opinion holds. When this movie's on, its motherfucking ON. The first half is perfect. But when the cult are revealed as the bad guys and when the demon explains the backstory for what happened to Alessa and the town the movie just comes to a halt and falls apart. It improves in the end, however, but it's never as cool as the first half. Overall, SH was good, but it had some problems.

BTW, I am so done with creepy little kids in my horror movies. Fuck those little bastards.

I finally got around to watching this and I gotta say it didn't really do anything for me. While it all looked great and was well made (you can really see the love on screen) it was really fucking boring. I guess that makes sense for me because I felt the same way about the games. I just didn't care about any of the characters and I just watched it to the end to see how things ended...which I didn't really get. Way to save all the Hellraiser violence for the end though.

If they make a sequel they need a man as the main character so he can wack the demons in the head with a steel pipe instead of running away.

Thats what bugged me too, constant wandering around, just following Rose around in the dark.
