Thread: Seibu graphics encryption pwned.

  1. Arcade Seibu graphics encryption pwned.

Dunno if this has been mentioned, but the very talented Nicola has finally decrypted the graphics for the Seibu games.

Hopefully the next mame release will let us play clean versions of the Raiden Fighters series.

    This makes me very happy!

    ABOUT ME.

  2. Actually he only broke the background tile encryption in all the games. RF2:2000 is the only one with working sprites because the sprite encyption for that one is different. It will probably be some time before the rest of the SPI games are looking good. Still, RF2 is quite the tasty treat in the meantime.

Oh, and it's in the current release, not the next one.

Yeah, I kinda blew my load a little early.

You say it works in the current release? I'm running 0.92 and am still getting garbled sprites. I spose I need to find a new romset, yeah?

Get 0.92u2000. That's the most current. There's usually 4 or 5 interim releases between whole numbers.

  5. On another note, Golden Axe (arcade) is now fully playable.

Here's to hoping Revenge of Death Adder gets worked on next.

GA has been playable for about 6-7 years. The proper japanese set is now decrypted for the first time so you can see the decapitation in the intro, but the international versions were always playable.

And Revenge of Death Adder has been playable (if a little glitchy) for at least a year. Giles and Martinet will probably be tightening it up some time after Y board is more fully implimented. Sys32 emulation is a bit rough. Rad Mobile and Outrunners look pretty damned good, but alot of others have major graphical glitches, and Dark Edge doesn't play at all. It will be worked on.

There is, however, alot of Sega stuff in MAME that is pretty new thanks to the newly broken encryption, and newly emulated X-Board. Thunderblade is working fully for the first time, AB Cop is playable, along with Racing Hero, Super Monaco GP, Cotton, Laser Ghost, Turbo Outrun, and alot of others. And Moonwalker is back in MAME for the first time in like 3 or 4 years (it was taken out when the Sega rewrite began).

  7. just got into mame (like, 6 hours ago).

I am blown away by the old AVP game.

  8. Raiden Fighters 2?
    'Bout friggin' time.

...er... I mean, emulation is stealing!
    ...my my interest once again...

AvP is quite impressive IMO- second only to Armored Warriors in my book.

The RF2-2K emulation LOOKS nice so far but it'll be nice to have the sound in on the Real McCoy RF2 (USA/Japan/Europe). Having the real PCB I can attest to some kickass BGM.

Somewhat recently, the Twin Cobra II BGM has been made perfect- it used to have a missing sound channel or two and you wouldn't hear the lead guitars. Now I'm looking forward to one more F3 System fix- mainly regarding a few graphic things like the lights going out in Elevator Action II, the tracer effect at the end of Darius Gaiden's warp transition, etc. that are ATM missing.

Taito's platformer Recalhorn is stunning. They should've given this a chance in the arcades rather than cancelling it.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)

  10. IT might be a while before the sound is decent. Even if the superior version of RF2 was working the SPI sound emulation is pretty shitty. For reasons that have nothing to do with anything except it hasn't been worked on much.
