I have never watched any Russian movies before. I heard this movie is pretty good, and I have a DVD of it on the way. This movie is going to be released in the States sometime this year I think. Has anybody here seen it?

Its an ok fantasy film. It has some nice sfx, and interesting premise, but I think its being overhyped for its own good.

Did you watch it without subs? You speak fluent Russian right? That's pretty cool.

A friend of mine had told me that this was really good, so I went out and picked it uo the other night. I had just got out of work so it was really late and I watched some of it before I ended up failling alseep...and I have to admit I wasn't paying complete attention (because I surfed the net a little too) but from what I saw I thought it was pretty bad. For those of you that have seen it- Does it pick up? Is it worth it?

I watched maybe 20 or 30 mins and I had NO idea what was going on.

No, it doesn't pick up at all. I was very excited when this movie was released and even went to see it in the threatre, and it's pure crapola. The special effects are kind of cool, but beyond that it's an awful movie, it's extremely boring, and it pretty much leads no where. I'm still going to download the sequel when the international DVD gets released just for piece of mind, but honestly, it really isn't worth watching.

I just don't think the translation worked very well. Any time you translate from a Cyrillic language to a Latin language it's bound to be off. The efects were awesome, but it seemed kind of like a triumph of style over substance.

Yeah, the only reason that happened was because it's a trilogy. So they could end the third one with the heroes winning

I know, it's a little irritating knowing it's a trilogy when they do stuff like that. It's almost like they just stopped at the end of a paragraph instead of wrapping up.

That's exactly how I felt at the end of the first one. I really wanted to like the movie too, the trailer made it look fucking awesome, and then all we got was a good idea for a story with an hour and a half of boring filler and no ending. In my opinion they should have condensed the movies down to 2, or hell, even a single tightly scripted movie with a well told story. Since the story IS interesting, it's just in the manner they presented it the story seems rather tame and boring.

I watched this on dvd a long time ago and found it ok. Some stuff comes off really cheesy. For example, that moving truck vehicle that squad drove. Then some of the rules get all confusing, like what people can't and can see this type of person. And the so called truce.
