I was merely asking for like, a link to the comic or whatever it is. I actually don't know what it is and would like to check it out.
No need to clench your damn ass cheeks.

Stop ruining my thread. If you want to ruin threads try Gaming Discussion, Galleria isn't for this shit.

I didn't understand one word of your crazy Australian dialect.

lol. Well the joke wasn't exactly the same. I don't remember Hero doing it, but ours was a blood fight, not just excess bleeding.

But when he liked something or loved something he went all out for it the best he could (his family, beer, donuts, etc.) That's something you don't see in the newer seasons. They sacrifice integrity and character for cheap jokes. Also the jokes go on way too much.
You said it really well, Andrew. It depends on the episode. It HAS improved here and there since Al Jean came back on the show. There have been some nice touching episodes again such as when Homer's mother returned. "Moe baby blues" was another that earnestly tried at decent character writing. But they are still few and far between, the recent post Superbowl episode with Homer becoming an "end zone choreographer" and Ned making "Passion" style gore and blood religious movie (sponsered by Burns?) was just plain idiotic and made no sense at all.
Another oddity the show excels at now is weird shock humor (in the aforementioned Passion spoof, the Judge who is supposed to be King Solomon literally cuts himself in half with a sword, something strange you would not have seen in earlier seasons). Jean has criticized Family Guy saying it sometimes rips off the Simpsons. Well, WHO is ripping off whose style when such things occur now as Moe killing one of the barflies with a shotgun or Halloween style "bizzarro" humor can appear in a regular run episode (such as an episode from several years ago when Homer feuds with horse jockeys which are literally little elves)? Jean talks a lot about how he cares about the characters but he sure doesn't seem to try and moderate the writers as much as he could from weird or tacky jokes. As much as I really prefer Jean over Mike Scully (obviously) he seems a little pompous and full of himself at times which I think leads him to believe the show is in better shape these days than it really is. A former animator who used to work on the show said he was quite unfriendly and refused to make eye contact with her at staff sessions.
It's funny that the show a few years ago spoofed internet flash cartoons, because for a good 80% of the episodes, that's exactly what the show reflects now with its weird, quick "zing" jokes. It seriously seems like there are a lot of inexperienced young writers on the show.
Watched Luck of the Fryrish last night in fact, such amazing writing. Can you imagine if the Futurama staff such as David Cohen had migrated to the Simpsons later? Would probably make a world of difference. Interesting thing, anybody remember the old IGN TV show site "The Den"? Waaaay back in '99 during the first season of Futurama, Groening was interviewed by the site. At the time he was still doing general supervision on the Simpsons. According to Groening, the reason Futurama's schedule was switched around from its Sunday slot was because a new young Fox executive was giving him grief, pressuring him and the staff to let in more crude humor.
Groening said there was one memo which really burned him up and he let the guy have it, said (whatever it was he didn;t say) this joke aint gonna happen. The young exec said "Lots of shows have this sort of joke." Groening replied "Not MY show. If you don't like it, then don't watch it." Groening says shortly after that Futurama was taken off Sunday night and moved around the schedule which he intrepreted as retribution for taking a hard line against increasing pressure from the suits to dumb down the Simpsons.
It's interesting that while he didn't do hardly any writing himself, Groening DID apprently have a balancing effect on the show because not too long after that incident, Groening left the show to solely work on Futurama and then show then went into truly noticeable decline and all out "idiot-jerk Homer overdrive." It's interesting in another interview Jean criticized Groening, seemingly saying that he was kind of bland but then dirisively said "...but he's consistent, I'll give him that." Again Jean is one of my fave writers and producers on the show, but I think he has an ego which cuts into the show's quality at times.
One person who used to write on the show who I REALLY dislike is Ian Maxtohn Graham. If you want proof the man is an ass, dig up some of his interviews. One of the least favorite writers among fans, he is responsible for the extremely tacky and poorly executed episode involving the detah of Ned's wife, an episode almost totally devoid of feeling, never mind the fact Homer was basically responsible for her getting killed which he even manages to rub into Ned in one scene. "Well, it was me who ducked the T-shirt shot which pushed her off the edge of the arena and...ohhh whoops." Not to mention Homer destroying Maude's things as a way to "help" Ned get over her death and Bart spelling "Rest in pee" in the funeral cake. Gahhhhhh.
Anyways, one thing I am trying with my comic is turning it from a joke strip gradually into a more character driven story while sprinkling clues about more "serious" stuff which will occur later in the more non-joke leaning threads so the transition to more complex stories doesn't seem to jarring. I already have a general but long arc pre-written on villians and loves they encounter and their respective backstories.
