  2. When do new episodes air?

  3. sunday nights, since england is ahead the torrents are usually up in the evening sometime

  4. You'll be getting your own Americanised Top Gear soon on Discovery. They're using the same set-up, a group of men discussing cars in a hangar with a track outside. I know this because I read it in the January issue of Top Gear magazine.

I do not have faith it will duplicate the goodness of the english version. At least not until i hear who the hosts are. My guess is none of them will have a level of personality even close to clarkson. American auto journalism is about on par with game journalism.

    Thats not even close.

Pretty much the two closest american shows to Top Gear are SpikeTV's "Car and driver TV" and PBS' Motorweek.

Yes, that PBS. You can imagine how boring it is. Boring on a new level. So boring, you long for a pledge break.

    And Car and driver TV?

"The XXXX while isn't perfect, its will make XXXX fans really happy"

Thats every review. EVERY FUCKING REVIEW. Not to mention these are the morons who rated the Honda Ridgeline the best "pick-up truck" when its not even a god damn truck, and the Acura RSX as the best "High-performance Sport Compact" when it was outclassed in EVERY damn performance category
by EVERY OTHER CAR IN THE COMPARRISION.

Top Gear is like a breath of fresh air, Honest, brutal automotive journalism without the coddling of the manufacturers or concern for advertisers. We will never get that here.
“The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, you know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.” -George Carlin

I can almost gaurentee tomorrow's episode is going to be the best of the season, the Veyron race across Europe. If you want another good one from this season go with the supercar one, GT/Zonda/Ferrari. That's S07EP03. Next episode with the Veyron is S07E05. They are all good though. Pretty much any recent season.

I agree with everything you said Wildkat, but hopefully Clarkson will have some control and not let that happen to Top Gear America. We really need a quality car show over here.

  10. From Top Gear Magazine:
"... deep in the Mojave desert... Instead of a shabby hangar and a track build around airfield taxiways, they got a pit garage and a proper circuit... without an audience... they hired three rather different American presenters. Bruno, a professional drag racer with casual tales of crashing at 230mph. John, the super keen jock, blessed with quaint 'sir and ma'am' good manners that only Americans can do. And, Johnny, a former reality show winner with a nice line in weird humour... Star in a Reasonably Priced Car remains... "

Edit: They also have pictures. Two of the presenters look very burly.

Ah, wait. It's only a pilot. If Discovery likes it, a series will follow in 2006.

And in this week's episode, watch for the part where the Veyron reaches France. You hear a little bit of the Marseillaise and a quick video of... well, just watch it!
