It was a carnage filled zombie movie, so it was a fun movie. I thought Big Daddy got a little too smart though.
i LOVED when the one zombie grabbed a persons upper lip and just pulled. the whole fucking face came right off. simply beautiful.

  2. lol, i'm not sure beautiful is the right word for that, Dyne.

I recently saw Eternal Sunshine for the second time. What an amazing movie that was. I'm glad beyond belief I saw it in theatres. Is there any movies you wish you had seen on the big screen, but missed out on?

  3. Saw Harry Potter Saturday, it was good.

Watched Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai on Sunday and it totally fucking rocked. Forest Whitaker whips a pony's ass with a belt.

You really thought so? I thought it was pretty damn slow, could have used some tightening up.

It's not a fast paced movie, true, but I don't think that works against it. It's original and has really good atmosphere, especially the scenes that take place at night.

Funny thing about Ghost Dog- it's one of those movies that I didn't like that much when I first saw it a few years ago. The trailers and commercials made it look like a campy, over-the-top kung-fu flick (Forest praticing his sword techniques on his rooftop was featured promently in the advertising), and I was dissapointed that it was, in fact, more realistic, slower paced, and a bit odd (but not in a campy way). Shit, he didn't even kill anyone with the sword!

Recently I was reading a review of some other movie that mentioned how great Forest was in Ghost Dog, and it got me to thinking. It's weird, but sometimes if I go into a movie with the wrong mindset, I end up not liking it even if it's good otherwise. You get those expectations going and they just end up cast in concrete and nothing can shake them. That happened with House of 1000 Corpses (expected a gritty horror movie, got a camp-fest), a movie that I now like a lot. I'm a bit more opened-minded now, so I gave Ghost Dog another chance. Now I really dig it.

    I just saw Collateral.

It was AWESOME... up until the end when they bring the lawyer girl into it. That was so dumb I lost interest and stopped paying attention.

I kinda saw what happens at the end but I was playing Animal Crossing by then.

  9. Watch Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978). I vaguely remember seeing parts of it a long time ago on TV. I mostly remembered the botched copy of the guy and his dog that got mixed together.

After seeing it I think it is really dated but still entertaining. Most of the film's music is quite awful. However I did really enjoy the paranoia this movie creates and you can count on Donald Sutherland to act well in just about anything he does. Also of course there is the great final scene wich I rewatched about 7 times on chapter skip. I just thought that was a great ending. Overall it's old but still a decent sci-fi / horror flick.

  10. Can't find a thread about it so I'll just stick this here.

Just saw Memoirs of a Geisha, it was alright. Really cheesy, beautiful, skipped over a lot of stuff that seemed important, and the most annoying language design I've heard in god only knows how long. I'm completely fine with movies in a different country having everyone speak English (i.e. Kiss of the Dragon, which has a Japanese guy going to France), but this was completely ridiculous. For one thing, it was some kind of Japanglish where they would use Japanese words for certain things but only about half the time, and then late in the movie when English-speaking Americans show up it totally falls apart. Judging from how the colonel was introduced it seemed that he only spoke English and no Japanese... so when the hell did everyone else learn English? I couldn't tell when who was supposed to be speaking what and it just turned into a complete mess.

Then there was the way they basically ignored war breaking out except for use as a backdrop and affecting the way one character acted. Considering what happened and what was going on it appeared to be pretty major... but let's get back to the makeup, shall we? I haven't read the book but the screenplay really needs about another hour just to elaborate on some of that.

It also bugged me the way they didn't change the appearance of anyone. Exact years aren't listed but it seemed to go on for a span of least 10 (possibly more or less but they always talk about everything like it just happened, not matter if it's the next day or if they say a couple years just passed), yet half the cast looks exactly the same throughout. They change the two younger girls when the main one goes from 9 to 15... and that's it. Some of those guys should've at least had some gray hair by the end or something.

Anyway, it wasn't that bad but I don't ever really want to see again either, unless it gets me laid or something. Just too poorly laid out in most aspects.
